Experience Wild Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Super comfortable trail running shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually have not heard of Altra before trying out this pair of shoes, but they really caught my attention and I wanted to check them out! Initially out of the box the first think I noticed was the weight, they are extremely light and the foam support when walking is very plush like a memory foam sole. Which gives you tons of support when on off-road rocky trails. Long term I’m not sure how durable this shoe will be, but I’m hoping they hold up well. They are very breathable and comfortable. Almost feeling barefoot in them. My only dislike is when walking or just standing, the shoe has a bit of “rock” to it and it feels a bit awkward. Overall if you enjoy off-road running and trail running I think this shoe would be perfect for you!

I would definitely buy again!

Amazing trail shoe, zero blisters or slips after a 15mile challenging trail run in hills of Vermont. Only wore them a total of 5 miles prior. They are ready to roll right out of the box!!

Dissapointing

Was super excited for these to come out and ordered a pair right after they dropped. The shoe feels awkward and unstable, causing knee pain and toenail problems. Buy other Altras.

Nope

I was intending to use my new Experience Wild Altras on the Portuguese Camino in September but after a few long walks in them I developed a hotspot on my right heel and my left little toe. My heel also slips up a lot no matter how I adjust my laces. I will not be taking them with me for the trip but can use them for occasional daily use at work. Disappointed!

I would buy this again

first hike rubber tip on one toe of one shoe starting to peel back. I don't recall catching my toe on something. I have the altra gators and (not just this shoe but others) the laces don't go far enough towards to toes so you can't use the lace hook on the gator. I push the gator fabric through some laces as a workaround. Other than these 2 minor things I love them

My favorite shoes

Go half size up. Great shoe and appreciate Altra offering an option that is not zero drop. Hope to see more color options and fingers crossed that it stays. My go to shoes for just about everything!

I love these shoes

I wear these everyday walking on concrete. I love the support and the wide toe box.

Incredible on the trail

I ordered men's for more width and they worked well. I also liked the colors better in men's sizes vs. women's. In future, I hope there are better color and wide options available for women's trail shoes or running shoes. They fit well and loved the 4mm drop! Appreciated the grip when hiking a section of the PCT in the rain and crossing through a river. They dried quickly.

Exact show I was looking for

The fit is excellent and has perfect grip out on my desert trails. Excellent stability on rough terrain allowing me to run with confidence. Been a long time Altra fan and glad they are adding more options and variety.
