Why We Like The Altra Lone Peak Hiker 2 Boot
Up for almost anything, the Lone Peak Hiker 2 tricks out Altra's most popular trail running shoe into a mid-cut hiking shoe that we can wear from the city to the summit. It features Altra's wide toe box and balanced cushioning beneath our heel and toes for a more natural stride and mid-foot strike. Lightweight with an over-the-ankle cut, it's trail-ready with aggressive traction and ventilating mesh that dries out quickly after rains and river crossings.

These are my first pair of Altra boots & they are surprisingly comfortable, with a bit of a cushion & stable support. Normally a size 10 is a bit big on me but these fit in a more snug way. I’m excited to see how they hold up!

Great for backpacking
1/2 size up, fit great. I've had these in perfect trail conditions, postholing in frozen slush junk, slick mud, river crossing, bushwhacking. Combine with trekking poles and you have 4x4.

Improvements great but narrower toe box?
Loved my first pair of Altra lone peaks. The pull tab on the back broke early on though so glad to see a new pull tab style, more sturdy. The toe box on this new model feels narrower though.

DEI failures
Altra keeps trying to reinvent the wheel every year. The Lone Peak 6 Mid was THE most comfortable durable and greatest piece of foot wear ever created right down to color options. This one is horrible

I love the look of these hikers
Own a previous pair in a size smaller & fit great but were not stiff enough for ankle support. These look good & have the support but are very tight at the top & sides of the widest part of my foot.

Great outdoor shoe
I suffer from morton's neuroma and low back pain. Decided to try zero drop shoes and a wider toe box. Altra seemed like a good option to try. I wore Red Wings previously. I wear these hikers daily for my everyday shoe. I work outdoors everyday in a farm and ranch environment. I really enjoy these shoes. Neuroma is better. Back pain is better. Altra - please consider a "work" line of footwear. I'd be first in line.

The boot is super light for the miles I hike 12 + . The zero
Great boot. After 8 to 15 long hikes the heel cushion collapsed with my way I heel strike. The grip is fantastic.

Great out of the box
I can't comment on durability, but they are super comfortable. They are the right fit in my mid foot and heel, and nice and roomy in the toe box. I usually wear 11 and I had to go up to 11.5

I'd hike that
I gave it 5 stars because it's true to the description on the website. Super comfy insole, good ankle support, & though not waterproof, it kept most of the water I splashed in, out of my shoe. I would say once water gets on past the tongue, then you'll feel it. I hiked in Yosemite and Redwoods and they were a good pair to have. The extra toe space was a nice addition too. Only drawback is though it has grip on the outsole, once dust or even a smooth stone/tree branch/etc is underneath it, it does have trouble staying true. Overall a good shoe, I even planned on writing a review when I got back home. I threw the shoe through the wringer and tripped over enough rocks or slipped down a few mountains to say that it held up.

Dont hold up and fit small
I bought these boots for the added ankle protection, but they failed. I only used them one day (8 miles) and they started to fall apart. I also bought these in the same size I get in the other Lone Peak Series and they were too small. If you buy these up size by at least a half size and don't expect them to work in terrain other than groomed hiking trails (AKA pavement). I will be returning these as soon as I possible.
