With more and more hikers choosing to hike in trail running shoes, Altra designed the Timp 5 GTX Hiking Shoe to let hikers enjoy one of the brand's more cushioned running shoes in a mid-cut "hiker" version. The Timp Hiker features the same cushy Altra EGO MAX midsoles and grippy Vibram Megagrip outsoles of the Timp trail runner in a mid-cut package with a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane for more all-weather protection. This light hiker adds leather overlays for a little more durability while maintaining Altra's signature toe boxes and balanced cushioning for more natural landings as we take on the trail.

Would be great except ankle pressure
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The fit on my foot is excellent. As others have said, there is something about the design where it puts a lot of pain into one little spot on the bone in my ankle. Oddly enough, only on one foot - the other foot was fine.
