Great hiker done in by a tongue that causes ankle blisters
I have had many Altras (all Lone Peaks) but needed something more weather proof than the badly-named ALL-WTHR (doesn't take much to get soaked feet in those). I thought these would do the trick, but had to return them when I immediately noticed the same pain others have described in several reviews. The tongue is too wide and rubs against the ankle! My question to Altra: whenever someone points out this design flaw in their review, you respond that you take all reviews seriously and that the problem will be corrected in the future. Well, when I look through the reviews, this issue has been brought to your attention a long time ago (1-2 years?) When exactly are you going to fix this boot? As far as I know, this is the only waterproof model you carry and I'd really like to give it another try since everything else about this boot is an improvement over the All-WTHR. Give us a time-frame by which to check back!

So far, so good
I have worn these a few times. I like them so far. Very comfortable and my bunion has plenty of room. I haven't tested the waterproof part of it yet but will next time I'm on a true backpacking trip.

Well
1st I am a heavy set man my timp hiker gtx was bought for work they're light but very comfortable and water proof I really like these boots not too much cushion just enough great traction I've worn these almost every day M/F the heel of the soles are already breaking down I really hate that but very doubtful I will get 2 full months of use out of them before the start hurting my feet from the sole breakdown was really in hopes of a wonderful pair of boots yes I would recommend these boots to a non heavy weight person in a heart beat

I would not buy this boot.
I loved the comfort and fit of this boot when I first got it. It felt great on the foot and I could wear it all day. However the first day I did boot things wearing it (light hiking) the toe cap and sole separated. I returned it to Altra within the window and it took WEEKS to get my refund. Now I really want to try the new Olympus hiker as I still haven't found a zero drop hiker to meet my needs, but due to my experience with the Timp hiker I'm worried that the Olympus will not hold up to even light hiking. It really is a shame, as there are Altra running shoes I want to try as well, but I am worried to after the quality (or lack there of) of the Timp. I would not buy this boot again though, even though it felt incredible on my foot.

Thank You Altra For Making This Product
I have been hiking in Lone Peaks, buy they were not providing the cushion that I needed. I tried the Olympus, but they run small and ended up losing the skin and nail off one of my toes. I recently completed a 300 mile section hike of the AT and also did about 50 trail miles in the shoes to prep. I went across a lot of rock surfaces in NJ, NY, CT, and MA. These shoes served me well and I am glad that they are available, especially in the size (14) that I need. Thank you Altra for making this product and having the GoreTex version available.

Not waterproof or even that water resistant but comfy.
Mulit 10+ mile hikes in snow with gaiters and my feet were soaked. Should not advertise as waterproof, more water resistant than anything else. I have huge feet, great fit and very comfy otherwise.

Great overall
I am a LEO & just bought a pair of these. I love them. My only comment is that they are loud. I get they are hiking boots but I wish they could be made with a quieter sole for law enforcement purposes

Just meh...
For starters, I don't know if learning colors is hard or something for everyone who designed and green lit these shoes but they are not black. I've seen some reviews calling them gray or charcoal, which some of the material on the shoe is gray, but the rest of the shoe is clearly a dark navy color. Nothing black on these shoes at all. Thankfully I can still get away with dark navy at work so not a complete deal breaker but it's frustrating to see something as simple as color be marketed and labeled so incorrectly. Secondly I also experienced the issue with ankle pain from the tongue seam many other reviewers have complained about. It was tolerable for a shift, but I'll say I was quite relieved to take them off when I got home and don't really want to wear them again now. I'm hoping I can figure out a DIY modification to remedy this as there are several positives about the shoes. That covers the cons. As for the pros, the shoes are light weight, have great feeling soles that feel soft on the bottoms of my feet, and the outsoles provide great traction on a variety of surfaces. It's too soon to comment on durability but I expect top tier lifespan out of these for the type of shoe, price, and Altras reputation. Overall I'd say buy with caution with the above issues in mind. It is difficult for me to recommend these.

Good duty boot but it's not black
I bought this boots because I'm required to wear black duty boots. I have been wearing them but they are a weird dark gray color. Please make these in true black or make the line peak hiker version in all black. Overall good comfortable boot but the color is off.
