ASSOS quality has gone down
Full disclosure that I believe Backcountry will make this situation right, but I cannot believe what I just received from ASSOS. I have multiple pairs of these bibs and while they are the “budget” ASSOS bib, they generally hold up well. So I bought another pair after a previous one wore out. The pair I received this round DOES NOT EVEN HAVE COMPLETE STITCHING IN PLACE FOR THE CHAMOIS. How is this even possible? How did this pass quality inspection and make it to Backcountry’s warehouse?? I attached a photo for comparison and reference. The bibs on the right are correctly stitched, and the ones on the left after the garbage I received this round. Unfortunately I’m going to have to go on a very reluctant but necessary search for a new bib manufacturer, as this is unacceptable.

Pretty Good Bibs for Mid-Range Rides
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This is my 4th Assos bibs within last 15 years. I have been extremely happy with all the three different bibs (one for winter tight) I purchased before. Over 15+ years I have tried very different brands and concluded that, albeit they are quite pricey, Assos bibs are the best bibs for me. I purchased the Mille GT C2 looking to get a mid-range (30-50 mile) distance comfort and replace my overused first Assos bibs, I use my Cento EVO bibs for longer rides. I have read the reviews at this site and agree with most of the positive points made. From my perspective, I would say that these are not the best Assos bibs I have purchased but they are the cheapest and are pretty decent ones so far for me. I have found Assos to be sized smaller, my other brand bibs are usually large, but all my Assos bibs are x-large which works well with my body. I am 6-0 ft and 185 pounds. I have been using these bibs last 3 weeks for a total of roughly 300 miles averaging 40-45 miles each outing. As one of the reviewer's pointed out, I noticed some bunching in the crouch area as I get to 25-35 miles distance but pulling from the bottom of the thighs takes care of the slight discomfort for the rest of the ride. I would definitely recommend them.

Great quality, watch the fit

This is my 4th pair of the Assos MILLE GT C2 Bib Short - a crash replacement. It took a long time to find bibs that fit me well as we're all different - I'm 5'10" and 153lbs with narrow sitz bones and these bibs are super comfy for me. I ride indoors and out, with longer rides being 4-6 hours so no issue with endurance. Assos sizing is small, the size chart doesn't represent reality in my experience so I sized up to a Large otherwise the legs are too short and narrow leading to a lot of fabric rucking where you don't want it. Worth mentioning as well that the pair I'm replacing stood up very well in the crash, but since the damage was on the hip Assos couldn't repair as they said it would make the shorts part uncomfortable with the patching. Kudos anyway that they offer this service for just $25.

Great bibs

I purchased these bibs after reading a review of bibs overall that had these at the top. I think the fit is true to size for me (5’8”-170lb so a medium for me). Straps are really comfortable. Padding inside does have some loose edges all around that occasionally can be felt- not as great of a finish as shorts I have from Castelli. I think they could have sewn the edges down better. I’ve only had them for a few weeks so I have no idea how they will wear. So far so good. Even the unsewn edges are not fraying so that’s good. I’d buy them again.

Best Assos Yet

Bibs are quite a personal thing, but for this person, the Mille GT C2 are the best that Assos make. I think the fact that this in reality has a thinner chamois than the GTS or Pearl Izumi Pro (both of which I own and like) hits the sweet spot for me. Given that Assos does a floating pad which is only attached at the front and back, I do find it important to have the right size, though, and for me this means staying in the smallest logical size available. With that dialed in properly these bibs are just sublime. Compared to other bibs in the Assos range these are technically less feature rich, but oddly I find some of the elements to be even better than the higher end model. The leg grippers on the GT, for example, are significantly more effective than the much pricier GTS. I have to adjust the GTS mid-ride, but didn’t touch the legs on my GT bibs a single time even in 3+ hour sessions. The bib straps are also terrific, with robust materials that provide good tension but are wide enough so that they never cut into your shoulders, and the waist band practically disappears onto your body. All in all, these have quickly found their way to the top of my rotation despite owning Mille GTS, Pearl Izumi Pro, Giordana FR-C Pro, Giordana Silverline, and Endura Pro SL EGM bibs (among a smattering of others). Suffice to say I’ve done my fair share of bib experimentation, and highly recommend the Mille GT C2s. These absolutely punch above their weight and are superior to many other bibs at a higher price point…again, in my opinion.

Padding bunches up. Ouch!

Comparing this to pearl azumi, specialized, etc, this pad is very uncomfortable. Thicker is actually less comfortable? Bunches up and pinches I think. Too bad. Rest of short is great.

My new go-to bibs.
- Familiarity:

This is my first Assos purchase in several years and my first time trying their latest line. For reference, I thought the previous generation Assos bibs (pink chamois) were very good. This new GT bib has been great on my first few rides. I am very picky and had no issues on the design. Straps, chamois, and overall fit are quite comfortable. The new, wider straps lay flat and secure, and spread out the force so the straps don't bunch up. No pinch zones or chaffing with the 11mm GT chamois. The thickness is perfect for me. (I would suggest caution when choosing between these and the thicker 13mm chamois on the GTS, as in my experience, thicker chamois are not necessarily better and have more risk of bunching up, creating chaffing between legs and sides of saddle, or losing road feel.)
