Exceptionally Comfortable and Well-Made
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
We live in a golden age of cycling apparel. Pretty much any product from an established brand will be pretty decent, and when it comes to mainstays like tights, you're spoiled for choice. Given that, I don't think that you NEED these particular tights, but if you can swing them, they're absolutely wonderful. The materials are the best that you'll find, the cut is spot-on, and the chamois is unbeatably comfortable. They also stay in place better than any other pair of tights I've ever worn, and the crotch doesn't ever bunch up. In short, these are tights that you slide on and instantly forget about. As far as temperature goes, these are for pretty cold days, but I've been caught out in unexpectedly warm weather, and the textile is nice enough that it manages to breathe remarkably well. Additionally, while they're not water proof rain tights, they keep road spray and melting snow off your skin. Even after 3-4 hours of road spray, these kept me dry. It's clear that these were developed in cooperation with professionals who are forced to spend God only knows how many hours outside in Alpine winters. So, are these bibs a must? No. Are they measurably better than anything else? Yes. Is it worth it? It depends on who you are. If you're not going to spend a lot of time outside next winter, or if you have a budget to stick to, there are lots of other great tights out there. If you're planning on doing some heavy base miles in crappy weather and you can swing the price, you won't regret dropping the extra coin.
