Love these bib shorts!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I have bib shorts from about five or six different manufacturers, and it really comes down to these bib shorts and Rapha. I bought these Assos MILLE GTC KIESPANZER BIB SHORTS C2 Size Medium, and I prefer them over Rapha mainly because they are so comfortable and sturdy. The compression is just right, and the straps are very sturdy (not flimsy, too narrow, or itchy like some straps). The fabric is also very comfortable on the skin and not itchy like with some shorts. I didn’t give the shorts five stars for only one reason, and that is because I think the legs should be a little bit longer. If the legs were 2-3 cm longer, I would’ve given them five stars and it’s the only bib that I would ever buy ever again. It’s not that the legs are too short, rather I just prefer a slightly longer leg. For reference, I bought these in a medium, and I am 5’11” and 176 pounds.

Unacceptable
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Order a pair and within the first week, the welded seam at the belly came undone and a silicone band came out. Sent them back to CC and got a replacement pair. The second pair did the exact same thing after 1 ride. I expect this from Amazon bibs. Assos, unacceptable. Its a shame - they're comfortable. But for this price, that should never happen, let alone within a week - and on TWO PAIR!!

Out of the box and first impression is what you’d expect from ASSOS. My 1st pair was worn on a 2hr trainer ride. After the ride I noticed that a.) they weren’t really any more comfortable than other bibs that were 1/2 the price and b.) the belly seam/weld came undone and there was an 8” strip of silicone band hanging out of them. For $270, NOT ok. Sent them back and got a replacement pair. Service from Backcountry was amazing. Second pair arrived and did the exact same… 1st wear was on a trainer ride and voila, same failure. Have a feeling that most of the 5* reviews are from people that haven’t experimented with newer bibs. A quick google search reveals about 4 brands that make incredible long distance bibs for 1/2 the cost. I’m old school and always had good luck with ASSOS. They’re like the Land Rover of bibs. Really impressive junk.

Comfort & Function
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is my 3rd pair of these bib shorts and I'm not sure that I will buy any other short in the future. Bought the first two a couple of years ago and don't wear virtually any other of the shorts in the stable. While I know that chamois fit is unique to each person, I can say that at least for me, this chamois is perfect. It has just the right amount of padding in exactly the right places. No chaffing, no saddle sores whether I'm on the road, on gravel or on a trail. All that plus the cargo pockets that hold their shape independent of how much I put in them. I really don't like to carry stuff in my jersey pockets so these are just what I needed. Buy them, you won't regret it!

Assos bibs
- Familiarity:

I’m not too satisfied with this purchase. I own several pairs of Assos, and like them. The fabric is scratchy, not a good feel on, etc. Not one of my better purchases. Not very happy with them.

Fantastic set of bibs with side pockets and enough movement to pull the front down to go pee!!! Size was dead-on. Extremely comfortable. The shoulder straps cause no issues and allowed for movement and body mobility.

Awesome bibs. Love the storage in the small of the back. Wish more Assos bibs had this feature. I use these for MTB and gravel and love them. Typical Assos sizing.

Absolute Assos Perfection
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I’ve tried many brands of bibs until finally relenting and spending the money for Assos. I never turned back after that as Assos truly makes the finest bibs! Now that I’ve worn all seasons of Assos for many years I began thinking there’s really nowhere new to go…but these convinced me otherwise. The added “internal” pockets allow me to carry extra nutrition (or ‘carry’, IYKWIM) and the external pockets are another added luxury if I decide to bring my phone, more snacks, kitchen sink, etc. I love these for both gravel and road. Chapeau, Assos!

Great bibs

These are the most comfortable bibs I’ve ever owned. Used them on multiple rides on mixed terrain of 50+ miles with no issues.

I've only used them for four rides, but each was a longer/more climbing ride than normal, including VT Monster Gravel. Never a pinching or bunching that I had to fix. Extremely comfortable for all day bouncing around in the saddle. This is my first pair of Assos. Ordered direct from Assos (nice Amex $50 off $200 offer + 10% first order sweetened the deal) and kind of glad I did as it suggested a size small instead of my usual medium, which wound up being the right size. Straps were comfortable enough that I didn't notice them. Side pockets were useful for a couple of gel packets or waffles each side. They still look streamlined and held contents in place. The only knock I could say is that the interior flap to the pocket is pretty deep and makes it a touch difficult to pull out of pocket, but probably there to hold stuff securely. Also, when putting on, I would avoid tugging at the sides to pull up the bibs. If these last (and I expect they will), they will be a great investment in comfort and performance. For reference, my legs run a little longer in proportion than my chest.
