Why We Like The Astral Brewer 2 Water Shoe

Kayakers will find a lot of versatility with the Astral Men's Brewer 2 Water Shoe on or off the water. Its hydrophobic polyester sidewalls ensure long-lasting durability and abrasion resistance, and the Airmesh vamp and tongue allow airflow to help your feet dry quickly. A drainage at the front sidewall and a slit at the heel direct water out of your shoe every time you leave the river, and the Balanced Geometry EVA midsole cradles your foot so you can cover technical terrain easier. To top it off, the Granite Grip sole provides excellent traction on wet rocks and slippery bar floors.

Brewer review

The shoes are great but they fit small. Also the toe box is not as wide as I was hoping. But overall is a good shoe if you can get the fit right. I was unable to return/exchange for a different size due to have worn them (1) time before deciding they were snug.

Great kayaking shoe

Solid kayaking shoe for protecting dry suit booties. Size up one size to one-and-a-half sizes for the booties!

Worth every penny!

Very comfortable, very versatile. The concept is great, a shoe that you don’t need to wear a sock and can go anywhere including water. This is my goto shoe. Worth every penny!

Did I really need another shoe? Turns out, yes.

I do a lot of outdoor sports and hate having too much gear. Can't I just go caving in an old pair of running shoes? Are approach shoes necessary? Do I need ultralight camp shoes for backpacking? It can be too much. So I was hesitant to buy my first pair of Astrals. What tipped the scales was a backpacking trip in the PNW with some potentially dangerous glacial stream crossings. So I bought these for that purpose: light enough to carry in addition to my trail runners, sticky rubber that excels on river rock, and quick draining/drying features. The shoe delivered. BUT, the best part is that they aren't a specialist shoe. While I did cruise across about 10 different streams in them, I also found the zero drop a welcome change on my feet after a long day of hiking, so they became a camp shoe. I wore them in the airport and around Portland while in transit. I even had an extra day and went downhill mountain biking in them at the Timberline Bike Park. I'll probably wear them to work, and no one will know that I've been rocking them without socks all summer too. If they were only good for rivers, I'd have been a little ashamed of purchasing them for such a niche usage and for the one summer trip. Instead, they are what I reach for on a daily basis, and I've already gotten my money's worth.

Super versatile!

Great kicks! I'm on my 3rd pair. Most versatile pair of shoes I own. River to trail to city mileage, these are where its at.
