Why We Like The Astral Loyak Water Shoe
The Astral Loyak Water Shoe provides the right mix of grip, flexibility, and durability we need when guiding raft trips or kayaking technical rivers. The stitched Cordura upper is highly abrasion-resistant for durability, yet also breathable and quick-drying. The upper is also attached directly to the rubber outsole for a low-profile fit and enhanced feel underfoot. G.15 rubber helps us maintain our footing on slippery river beds and slick rocks, and flex grooves allow our foot to flex naturally.

Perfect for Water Hiking
Love the barefoot feel! Almost like walkinh on nothing! Great grip, even on slippery surfaces - I'm not even a boater! I wear them hiking in the desert. They're perfect for creek shoes! Yes, we have creeks and rivers in AZ!

Good, but flawed as a water shoe.
This is an incredible travel shoe. Lightweight, compact, easy to pack - awesome. I even put an orthotic in them if I’m just walking around town. As a water shoe also great, BUT they are not good in any environment with sand. The material of the tongue collects sand and the heal cup, which is nice and padded (great for comfort!) BUT the heel material is not fully stitched to the heel cup, so sand gets heavy deposited in this space. It’s impossible to rinse out and I’m left with crunchy sand embedded behind my heel, which is not comfortable to say the least. It’s so bad, I’m wondering if that non-stitching is a manufacturing defect.

Love the Loyaks
Love these shoes, wear my first pair all the time. Easy to slip on and off. Lightweight, but still good support. This is my second pair, holding them in reserve.

Loyaks are my go to for SUP
Finally got a chance to take this out on my SUP: clean up of a local run with group of college students. The sticky soles are great. The shoes are super comfortable, and the look great, too. Hoping to get lots of paddling trips with these.
