Sickness
These things are sick I am really impressed by the quality of materials and workmanship. The removable inserts offer more than most barefoot shoes I’ve worn which I was hesistant at first but now enjoy. Feels good in more terrain. I’m on Oregon coast now and been wearing them across diners and along beach and through wet technical trails and they feel great. They definitely dry slower than most astral shoes. The inserts are kinda lumpy which took about 20 minutes to get used to but now I’m wondering if that’s the point? Something about waking up your feet. The navy looks best I think though I was tempted by the dark free also.

Best shoes I've bought in a long time
This shoe is everything I hoped it would be and then some! I never fit well in the Loyak and wished they had a bit more of an aggressive sole: along came the TechYak! The fit of this shoe is perfect (albeit I did personally size up .5). While it has the wider toe box, I don't feel like my foot is sliding around. The insole is the perfect amount of support without compromising the minimalist nature of the shoe. I highly recommend this shoe for anyone looking for a minimalist trail shoe. Next I need to get a pair of the Nosobos!

Fresh Sneaks to Do It All
They fit as expected. The toe box is wider than other Astral shoes, which I like for a more do-it-all shoe like this. The design / look is so fresh. Like skate meets performance outdoor meets I don't even know what. They remind me of when the Brewers first came out...like, wait, whaaa?! That's a water shoe?! These are like that, but for trail. Kinda like a fresh, more street styled version of the Merrell Trail Glove.

Comfort + Balance + Style
As it's still a little cold where I live, I have been wearing the Tech Yak primarily to PT (rehab for my knee). I like the grounded feeling this shoe provides and the ability for my toes to spread a bit for greater balance while doing my exercises. I also like the appearance of this shoe - in particular the mesh and suede-ish materials that I think provide a visually appealing contrast! I can't wait to get outside in these shoes. I'm a 7 typically and ordered the 7. Fit perfect with a light sock.

just right
Oh man.. New favorite summer shoe incoming! I'm a fan of Astral shoes, and haven't quite gotten to the point where I can wear minimal shoes (loyaks) all day yet. These have a little bit more to them than Loyaks with a little more arch and are slightly stiffer yet extremely light. These seem like a great intro to minimal footwear. They are super comfortable and have a wider toe box than I've experienced in the past with other Astral Shoes. These will replace my old brewers as my post mtb shoe/in the drift boat all day/camp shoe/badass casual activity shoe. The two tone sierra taupe looks awesome. Highly recommend these to Astral fans and future Astral fans.

Wear 'em barefoot!!
As an avid Astral footwear fan I was really curious to give the new Techyak a try. My typical go-to Astral shoes have been the original Loyak and Brewers, so I was intrigued by this minimalist design for trails, as well as the new "Biodynamic" shape that Astral introduced with this model. The first thing I noticed about these was how comfortable they were out of the box. This is due to the yellow midsole that makes contact with your foot. It feels really good. This is similar to the construction of the Loyaks, but much more cushion. I really like wearing them barefoot on warmer days!!! The shape is also really interesting, and appears to respect Astral's original design ethos very well (zero drop, balanced, etc) although the toe box is considerably wider than my previous Brewer and Loyaks. While I have a "C" shaped foot which is not really wide, I like having room extra room for my toes to splay and for balance. It certainly does not feel too wide or sloppy, and should be a nice feel those that have worn Astral shoes before. Lastly, these Techyaks are great casually. I wear them to work everyday and dig them as a daily driver. I went for the Fern Green and love 'em.
