Why We Like The Atlas Snowshoes Helium MTN Snowshoe
The Atlas Snowshoes Helium MTN Snowshoe offers the versatility needed to tackle varied terrain during the winter. Atlas's Helium deck is the foundation of this techy snowshoe; the composite construction is super-light, and the unique louver design keeps snow off to prevent buildup and maintain traction. Aluminum traction rails and 360-degree crampons offer security and confidence in snow and ice. And, for an easy and extra-comfortable fit, Atlas chose the BOA Fit System for their Wrapp bindings, locking us in with the twist of a dial.

Best snowshoes
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Went through a couple others, and the Atlas Helium with the Boa are by far the best. The boa in particular is so necessary to easily take on and off (which we do frequently in mixed mountain conditions) in the cold without taking gloves off.

Good snowshoe, needs design change

I love the easy one off design of the buckle system and light weight feel. These were absolutely awesome until they broke. The back part of the aluminum frame pulled through the plastic anchor point. Could be a great snowshoe if all anchor points were solid. I had about 5 miles on the shoes when they broken. Back country.com was outstanding with customer service.

Great product

I bought these to replace an old pair in prep for a hiking trip in the Rocky Mountains. They were super light on my feet but gave great support in deep snow even with a 30lb pack (I weigh 200lbs). The bindings were very easy to adjust while keeping my gloves on and simple to take off. Very happy with this purchase.

Broke almost immediately
Poor design. Plastic breaks at rivets. Only used maybe 4 times on light trails.

I can not wait to get these into powder on the mountains. I Winter hike and i live in Alaska and I snowshow a good part of the year. I own the 23 inches but I can not get floatation with gear which is why they tell you the wt limit is 160. Fine if you are a smaller guy with no pack. So this is me walking with a heavy parka, boots, clothing, insulated overpants and a daypack that weighs 4 lbs. Your on the body gear is heavier than you think. One of my ridiculous but so warm and bear resistant Alaskan Hardgear cordura, down, coyote fur parkas wigh like 7 lbs pre humidity. Factor that all in and I had to get a 26 incher at backcountry as well. The crampon teeth and side rail teeth (I do a lot of traversing on steeper terrain) are very aggressive and that was what I needed. Between the custom fit of the Boa, its quality and attractiveness, its design - it justifies the price easily. I found it easier to adjust and the heel straps were of a very good quality. I have a feeling that this product may hit five stars (the 26 inch, the 23 hit 5 for casual walking around as transportation the end of last year...)These straps where the easiest to adjst on my heels. And I own a TSL, I need to take mitts off in -30F-so ease of adjstment in the trail is manditory. These were my first Atlas's in a long while and they will not be my last. I was impressed.

Broke the third time
There are some nice things about these like boa system which makes it super easy to wear. Other than that it claims to be all terrain snowshoes, unfortunately they broke on the 3rd time I used it. Barely used them for 10-15 miles of snowshoeing and the rivets broke when I reached campsite. Not a reliable pair of snowshoes in the mountains. Also, backcountry’s warranty support isn’t as great as REI’s, it takes forever to get a response and they say I’m supposed mail the item to manufacturer coz it’s been 3 months since purchase.

We?ve tried out a few different brands of snowshoes and continuously struggle with the cumbersome back strap. These Atlas Helium back straps are so much easier to manage than any others we?ve tried. Additionally, the front strap tightening mechanism is easy to use AND stays in place! No more bending over and adjusting mid-trek Highly recommend!
