Why We Like The Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 120 Boot
We like how the Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 120 Boot blends the DNA of the Backland Carbon and the Hawx Ultra XTD to create a lightweight backcountry boot that encourages adventure. The lightweight carbon-infused construction teams up with a 74° range of motion walk mode to help us reach distant lines. Once we get there, the 2-buckle design is bolstered by a precise Cross Lace 2.5 system to lock our heel in the pocket and help us drive our skis.

Nice boots
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 29/29.5
I only have one tour of a couple thousand vert and a day of resort skiing. The boots are very light. Fit great out of the box. I have a 106 mm ball of foot and extremely high arch with corresponding high instep. I tweak them a little and only heat molded the liners to create a nice pocket for my ankles. I am a big guy and they held up pushing a 100 mm waisted ski with tech bindings.

I wish it were less volume!
- Size Bought:
- 26.5
1400g touring boot, nice and stiff compared with the rest of the backland boot line. Excellent at walking uphill. The flex is not very progressive. I am returning the boots because the volume is too much for me (generally average, some pronation, street shoe size 9 mens, 26.5 mondo). The last appears to be slightly wider than the rest of the backlands.
