Why We Like ECT Cord
It's pretty much impossible to conduct an extended column test on backcountry tours without a rutschblock like Backcountry Access's ECT Cord. Not only does it quicken the process, but it also keeps our columns looking nice and precise.

Nice ECT cord
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
For 45 years I have used a 20' length of 550 parachute cord with knots ~10" apart starting at the center. Worked great, but finally died. I needed a new ECT cord and the BCA looked good. I really like the orange and reflective cord. And swaging metal clips was a good move. I never really had a problem cutting blocks, but I can see how the metal clips will really help with cutting the hard or ice layers. My only criticism is that it is only 2 meters long. Seems short! I'll find out soon enough
