Why We Built The Backcountry Cedars Merino Midweight Funnel Neck Baselayer Top
"Even as a Gearhead, sometimes I think the less equipment I wear, the better. This top's face mask capability keeps my kit streamlined, letting me focus more on the ride." —Gearhead® Expert Kelly
We've done it again: the Backcountry Cedars RWS Merino Midweight Funnel Neck Baselayer Top offers accessory integration, keeping our layering system simple so we can focus on the snow. The unique shape features loops on either side of the collar that fit around our ears, allowing us to pull the funnel neck up over our chin and function as a cold-blocking face mask. This toasty top is made from earth- and animal-conscious merino wool that's Responsible Wool Standard-certified.

I’m trying to lean towards more natural fibers for my snowboarding base layers. I thought the funnel neck was a good idea but it just gets sopping wet by the time you step off the slopes for lunch. Made my goggles fog up. I got the matching leggings. And to be honest I HATE adding extra layers. I don’t like feeling bulky and restricted while trying to rip. But I felt like I needed an extra layer, never been that cold. And to top it all off, when I tried to undo the bow I made to cinch the pants, the fabric for the waist tie frayed away as I pulled the knot out. Like??? For $100 each item you would think this would be better quality. But I’m not entirely thrilled. Have to go buy more things. Gone are the days for good quality and decent prices.
