Why We Built The Backcountry Destination Softshell Fleece Hoodie

The Backcountry Destination Softshell Fleece Hoodie is for days when the sun is shining and the snow on the groomers is packed down but slushy. Like our entire Destination line, this jacket is packed with features designed to help us do what we love while still looking great when we stop by the grocery store on the way home. The softshell outer is made with a PFC-free DWR finish that keeps our baselayers dry when we take a spill in the park and concealed underarm vents let us cool off while we're regrouping in the lift line. A built-in facemask with ear straps provides UPF 50+ sun protection to keep us from getting burnt by the sun or chafed the wind, and the scuba-style hood is easily adjusted when the wind starts blowing in sideways.

This isn't a very heavy duty softshell. I bought an xsmall size after another back country hoodie I ordered was huge for a small. The fit of this is odd- the shoulders fit fine (my bust measurement is 36" and I am average build with medium width shoulders) but it is slim through the hips. I wasn't planning on wearing this to layer over a lot but I'm debating sending it back for the small. I don't like the black trim and i'm not crazy about backcountry's logo sizes and placement on their items but not a deal breaker. Good value for the $60 I paid for it. Color does have a slight tinge more green to it than it showed up on my screens which i like.

I’m always cold. I received this just in time of temps going into the 20’s and teens here in Virginia. I put this on to take the dogs out and it worked like a charm. Looks great too.

Decent…

I do logged this hoodie but got the price, I thought it’s be sturdier and thicker. The face mask on it does nothing to keep my face warm but it’s not horrible either. It’s pretty comfy but not super comfy. I do think it’s overpriced for the quality.

Awesome piece

Bought this as I was traveling so SLC in winter, but I live in Hawaii and don’t have much cold weather gear. Love the neon green color. It has several details I love; thumb holes, the neck cloth to cover up the throat and mouth and then the vents on the armpits. Very useful piece. Is a little long but then I figured if you’re skiing and spending a lot of time on your backside it would keep you covered and dry? Definitely a good purchase, was very warm.
