The Backcountry Meltdown Water-Resistant Pant is a do-it-all jogger-style pant with water-resistant fabric to keep us comfortable on the mountain. Featuring a lightweight polyester fleece fabric, the Meltdown is perfect for mild-weather riding when we don't need a shell, while the comfort fit layers easily under bibs on deep, midwinter days. These pants have a PFC-free DWR treatment to shed moisture, and the elastic waistband and integrated drawcord adjustment ensure we have the perfect fit every time. For the finishing touch, the cuffs have a snap adjustment, so we can easily layer them with boots.

What is the sizing?

Familiarity:: I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:: L
Height:: 5' 6"
Weight:: 160

I am very typically a large in bottoms but these were enormous in the waist. I think if I size down, the calves will be too tight. They are a strange fit… The waist band drawstring could probably help but I think it’s too much material in the thighs and I don’t want a lot of rubbing/chafing. Also, these are extremely heavy but don’t really seem that warm. Kind of a bummer…

Comfortable, with caveats

I am 5'5", 140lbs, with a "straight" frame. I originally purchased medium in the peach color - but they were HUGE. I sent back and got the small in the khaki. Here is what I like: Soft interior Weather resistant exterior BIG pockets - and zipper pockets for safekeeping on the go I like the snaps at the bottoms of the leg - for ease in getting on/off over shoes if layering Here is what I don't like: Tops are huge. VERY high waisted, and very baggy at the hip and seat. I could have easily gone to an XS for better fit in waist and seat, even with the drawstring. Bottom of legs are super skinny. So much so that had I gone to an XS, I don't think I would be able to snap them around my calves. Material is not super warm. The peach showed dark underwear underneath - just barely but enough so... I wish they fit like the photo, which shows a cute sporty cut. They are not. But they are going to be fine for layering (hiking in mid temps/shoulder season, layering over bike shorts to get started in the morning, or comfy pants for airplanes and campsite wear). I love the color. Khaki sweatpants? Yes! And they wash well with no pilling or shrinkage.
