Has some flaws

I loved these shorts. They are a great, comfortable material, and they are a very flattering length. However, after washing them twice the seams around the leg holes came undone. The elastic came out and got stuck together. This was super disappointing because before that they had become my favorite shorts to mountain bike in.

Great Fit

Finally! A women’s bike short that doesn’t feel too baggy or long like it’s made for men, or too short like it’s made for running. I’m 5’9”, 125lbs and the size small fits me perfectly. I’m usually between a XS and S. An XS is usually slightly too small and a small is usually slightly big. Given that the small fits me perfectly, I’d say that this short runs slightly small.

Needs re-desig

What I liked: Super lightweight fabric with ventilation. Loved the length as I’m 5’3” and other MTB shorts go to my knees. Loved the trim fit. So hard to find athletic apparel in my size due to “vanity sizing”. What I didn’t like: The waistband was SUPER tight on the XS and sat above my natural waist which was uncomfortable. It felt like my organs were being squished. I tried a SM which made the waistband more comfortable but the rest of the short was extremely baggy and stuck out sideways in the hips and legs. Waistband was so tight that the stitching ripped out while pulling them over my hips. It ripped the seam open on the XS. No visible tear on the SM but I heard the stitches popping. These shorts would be perfect if the waistband was wasn’t so constricting and the thread used in construction was designed to stretch. It seemed like super weak cotton thread. I have quite a bit of experience with sewing athletic garments and have used thread specifically designed for stretch fabrics. It’s not easily broken. With a few tweaks, these shorts would be perfect, but as is, there are 2 major flaws.

Great Hot Weather Short

I'm a cross country MTB rider who prefers shorts that are shorter and lightweight for hot summer riding. These shorts are perfect for that, with two large zippered pockets to stash an iPhone 10 and keys or a small snack for shorter rides as I prefer to ride without a pack. The yoga waist band is extremely comfortable and I have not had issues with hearing the stitching pop when I put them on. I wear a medium in every short I've ever bought from Zoic and Shredly, and these fit like all mediums I own. I look forward to more colors in these shorts because I find them to be a great value.

I work in the apparel industry so my feedback is very specific but I hope it’s helpful to others and the internal Backcountry team. Like others have said, there is a sound of stitching popping when the elastic is stretched, however, upon inspection it is a basting stitch the factories use to temporarily sew the elastic in place. Usually it’s removed, but in this case it wasn’t and that is OK, it just makes a sound but is not popping actual seams of the garment. The fit looks like the picture, slim but not legging tight in the leg. I wish the waistband was tall (like 4.5”) like a legging. Otherwise I really like this short!!!

I love these shorts- they are super comfortable, and so lightweight. I like to wear regular cycling bibs underneath, but dislike how warm I get with essentially two layers of gear. These shorts are lightweight, and feel barely there. They also work so well with my dropseat bibs. The waistband is excellent- it just fits, shorts don't fall down or ride up, and there's no binding or pinching at the waist. Only 4 stars vs 5 as I'd like another pocket- it has two zippered pockets, one on each side, large enough to fit my iphone 12. But would love a stash pocket on top of thigh or in front of existing pockets to quickly grab food while riding.

Way too small. These fit like spandex bike shorts. I have gotten medium Backcountry shorts in the past, and they were big. So I got a small here, and these were unfortunately tiny, unflattering, and... agreeing with the previous reviewer, the elastic sounds like it's ripping every time you put the shorts on.

The shorts are alright. They're the only actual high waist mtb shorts that I could find, but that's where the good ends. The right leg zipper broke the first ride that I used them on. I put my phone in that pocket, pulled it out probably 5 times, and I guess that was too much for it. The elastic sounds like it's ripping every time I put the shorts on, and i got a size up so they would fit a bit loose.
