Birdie Belay Device

Beal's Birdie Belay Device is an assisted braking, compact option for lead and top rope belaying. Though you should still operate it with the same care and attention as a traditional tube-style belay device, the Birdie does feature an assisted braking mechanism for easier catches. The break handle provides excellent control when lowering your climber, and all the cam and friction components are stainless-steel for long-lasting durability.

Wow

I do not participate in rock climbing but enjoy tree stand hunting, was in search of an economical belay device and discovered a promising choice after looking into favorable reviews (No rope twisting while belaying). At first, i needed some time to adapt to the device, but they eventually found it simple to operate with a 10mm safety rope. I observed that the device is quite sensitive when belaying down, necessitating practice for safe and comfortable use, which by developing muscle memory by several usage. Would recommend to anyone rock climbing or hunting.

the grigri killer

Familiarity:: I've used it several times

Not only is this device cheaper, it works so well. The design is all metal and feels much more sturdy, it is more compact, has a good catch, and works well for top rope and for lead belaying. It also doesn't twist your rope like the grigri can tend to do. A new favorite piece of climbing gear.
