Escaper
The Beal Escaper establishes itself as a new tool when the mountain reminds you to stay humble, and you and your partner are put into a puzzling situation that can turn the whole mission into an epic. Ropes get stuck or damaged, anchors can be difficult to find, rappelling the route safely and efficiently becomes paramount. Certified as an anchor point by European CE safety standards, the Escaper is a detachable anchor system that sets up full-length, single rope rappels without leaving a single carabiner. It's so light and compact it can easily be stored in a summit pack and set up when on a multipitch climb or when a rappel is required to access a descent while ski mountaineering. The innovative finger trap design loops into and through itself to anchor your rope while you make a smooth rappel. Once you're ready to retrieve your rope, repeatedly tug and let go of your line and it will release the system and send your rope tumbling back down to you.

Impressed by how great it works

As everyone else I was very scare when thinking of putting my life to this device. I tried in a shorter multi pitch and tested first adding a knot to the end of the tail just to see if it moved. It didn’t. Then it was the real deal. Using it in a long multi pitch of chimneys. The thing worked like gold! Took us down and even with the turns and amount of chimneys, it didn’t get stuck on anything. Probably more safe than tag line plus rope. The instructions say to pull 8 times to release. In real life does not work like that. I had to do it for about 40 times but over 250 feet long climb. And on top of that, is even lighter than my phone. I am so happy I found it and that it really worked. Super recommended. Perfect for multi pitch

Surprising, but GREAT!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I was skeptical and uneasy using the escaper the first couple times, but as others have said, it holds well and works just as it was intended to. I now carry it with me on every route, whether I need it or not. It is light enough that I don't mind carrying it, even when I don't plan on needing to use it.

Finally!

This was scary to use on the first rappel but now after alot of use I find it a great tool. It is perfect if you are climbing routes longer than 30 or 40 meters and you dont want to bring a tagline to rappel. I also like to carry it on routes where you walk off the top but unforeseen circumstances could have you needing to bail. It is super light and easy to use however sometimes I find it takes a lot of tugs to receive it creating the illusion your rope may be stuck, try to change the angle and keep pulling it will come. This is an amazing idea and I bet it will keep getting better as the years go on.
