When we are trail running, the Black Diamond Distance 1500 Headlamp is our number one choice for a headlamp. With multiple settings, a comfortable carry, and a super bright light, the Distance 1500 was made to lite up the night as we weave through the trees. There are three brightness modes from 15 to 800 lumens, with the option of cranking up the power to 1500 for a brief 10 seconds through PowerTap technology. The head strap comes with an optional top strap for additional security in technical terrain, and the external Li-ion battery can be changed quickly and easily with one hand.

Great light!
I was hesitant to move from alkaline to rechargeable headlamp. This light with the extra battery gives me confidence in my personal adventures and search and rescue missions. Fits great and the variety of light make for a versatile tool.

Excellent headlamp!
Broad beam with no shadows! Very comfortable! Controls are simple to use, Power tap provides an amazing 10 second surge of intensely bright light! Have Icon 700, Storm and Spot headlamps but Distance 1500 is my new favorite!

Excellent!
Purchased for SAR work in my area. I carry a spare battery and have never needed it during a single mission. Super bright when needed and great battery length.

Very nice headlamp
So far it is all that it promised to be. Bright, easy to use, and not very bulky. It is comfortable and stays in place. I haven’t had a chance to really test the battery life yet but I’m sure it’s more than adequate. My only complaint is the pictures only instruction manual was hard for me to understand. I’m still not sure I know how to control it well. An instructional video would go a long way I think.

Distance 1500
I used this headlamp for a Rim 2 Rim, night crossing of Grand Canyon and it performed extremely well. I used it on its 800 lumen setting the entire time which allowed me to move faster than I would have with a regular headlamp. The 1500 lumen bump for ten seconds was also great for route finding. I had purchased this over legitimate SAR headlamps that were brighter because I felt it was the best performance to weight ratio and its ease of changing batteries on the move, which I did. I really appreciated that it went into power saving mode when the battery was low, that's how I knew it was time to change batteries. Works great for its intended purpose, 10 out of 10.

Powerful, versatile and comfortable.
I have been using this light daily since it arrived. Is is amazing how much light it produces. I love the wide angle of the light so less of the tunnel vision of some other lights. There are many options for setting lighting levels, color of light. The instructions are easy to understand. It will take a bit for me to internalize them, but the major settings I use most of the time are readily available. The headband is very comfortable and fits solidly on my big head. I like the balance of the low-profile battery pack on my back of my head with the low profile lighting on the front. The interchangeable battery packs is a neat feature. I can see they can swap out very easily compared to fumbling with sorting batteries. Like all other headlamps I have used, the small buttons will be a challenge with gloves, but haven't had to try that yet. I think once I have it on, I won't be messing with it, so I expect this to be a minor problem. Overall, a great headlamp that provides amazing performance in a lightweight comfortable package.

Distance 1500
Incredible headlamp! Signed up for my 100 mile ultra and did not want to worry about my lighting through the night. This was very comfortable and I had plenty of light!
