I asked around. These poles
I asked around. These poles were highly recommended by many, many PCT thru-hikers. Got a set for my wife. She loves them. “Game changing,” she says.

trekking poles
I plan on doing the Tour du Mont Blanc next year and I purchased these poles for that. I have inspected them and they have the collapsible and adjustable capabilities that I desire. They are great poles and I am looking forward to using them on the trek

Packable and light
This is perfect for backpacking - especially if you're traveling abroad to your backcountry adventures. Easy to store and sturdy on the trail. I am tough on gear, and have broken the carbon fiber ones. These poles can withstand my abuse.

Not Good in Wet Weather Country
Sadly the newest version of this pole is no good in wet weather country. I had a pair of Distance FLZ for about 7 years and loved them. I tripped over my poles last year and bent one to the point I could no longer use it. I went and purchased the new version of the Z pole. 3 times I have returned them under warranty and received a new pair. The push button used to hold the pole straight and used to release the pole to fold broke on each of the 3 set I used. It took me until my 3rd set of poles to figure out that the poles worked perfectly in dry weather, however after wet hikes, even though I did my best to dry to poles out, the mechanism became stiff and then failed completely. Black Diamon, please fix the change you made so the metal inside survives damp conditions.

Pretty good
Light light light weight. However they come apart easily if they get stuck in rocks? Maybe I’m not locking them out properly.

Great for Backpacking
Small size, relatively light weight sturdy poles. Went with these for the aluminum construction and ability to adjust length as carbon can be less forgiving if the pole gets flexed too much. Looking forward to future hikes with these.

Great lightweight poles
I was so excited to purchase these poles for a trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon. They did not disappoint! They are nice and lightweight, easy to put together, an break down smaller. The perfect everyday trekking poles and for travel.

Great Poles
Bought these to replace a pair of Alpine FLZ but I wanted something more compact for travel and mountain trekking / running. I did not thought that the carbon premium was a must and I am really satisfied so far. Definitely recommended.

Lightweight and Compact
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are my first set of trekking poles and I'm very happy with them. I chose this model (Distance FLZ Trekking Poles) based on reviews that described them as quiet and vibration-free and I agree with that assessment. They are extremely lightweight and compact, but also feel very sturdy when used. I've taken them on a steep and muddy trail up and down a canyon and felt more sure-footed than ever, especially on the downhills and crossing rocky streams.
