Black Diamond's Distance Spike Traction Device is one of the few set of spikes specialized for trail running. Most spikes like this one fit hiking shoes and trail running shoes alike, but the addition of a softshell toe cover gives trail running shoes a more secure fit and additional weather protection. The Distance Spike includes 14 stainless steel spikes for improved traction on icy surfaces. It only weighs 4 ounces and can pack into pockets on most running vests.

Great!
Easy to get on and stayed put. Great traction on mountain trails covered in ice! I did not slide at all on ascent or descent. They feel light and were the best traction devices I have used for technical winter trail running. I’m curious how the soft shell toe will hold up over time.

Love the extra traction!
This is my 2nd pair of BD traction devices. I have had the Access Spikes for 2 years and wanted another pair. I liked that they had the same sturdy spikes but with a lighter design. Work great, like the toe protection it helps keep snow off trail runners.

Great traction and easy install!
Highly recommend, easy to install and they stay on the shoe/boot with no problem ! Ordered a pair for my girlfriend since I find these to be the best on the market!

rock solid
Great set of spikes. Easy to get on, and really like the toe cover. Used these about a week ago on the first part of the Grand Canyon as there was significant ice near the top of the South Rim. Highly recommend.

New purchase
Tried these out this year for trail running. Easy to put in and remove over and over as needed. Very lightweight. Love the design, the front cover keeps snow and splashes off my sneaks and back hooks make removal and hanging to dry easy. My new favorite product! The reviews out there are correct—these are the best.
