Why We Like The Distance Z Trekking Pole
The Distance Z Trekking Pole is Black Diamond's value-packed trekking pole that doesn't slack. Its strong aluminum design is light, weighing well under a pound per pair. Breathable EVA grips and adjustable straps make it easy to clutch while ensuring it won't slide away if take a tumble. Plus, the Distance Z features the same collapsible design as the other Z-series poles—a button releases the sections for stowing, and an avy-probe pull grip slides it back together when we're ready to set off.

Great Ultra poles
I bought these poles as a back up plan after being diagnosed with an injury a week before my first 50 mile ultra race. I only practiced with these poles once before the race and found them super easy to use and store in the Solomon quiver that I have. If it wasn’t for these poles, I would not have finished that race. These poles helped me so much and were so light and comfortable. They essentially add no weight in the quiver and are so easy to operate with one click of a button. I highly recommend these trekking poles!

Very light, easy to manage.
Very light, easy to manage. This is my 4th set over the years. Once used it never wants to be another kind of pole.

Terrific poles
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 100 cm
I bought the Z poles to take on a trip where my regular collapsing poles wouldn't fit in my checked bag. The Z poles were perfect. I know you're supposed to lengthen/shorten when going down/up, but I never do. I bought the poles that fit me for level terrain and they were wonderful. These are light and sturdy, and I'm planning to use them more often.

Distance Z
Easy to operate while on the run. Lightweight and doesn't even feel like its there.

Excellent for Expedition Adventure Races
Used these in the trekking/hiking sections of Expedition Oregon Adventure Race. They did excellent on hiking up and down super steep hills both on and off of trails. The Z folding feature is perfect for fitting in your pack when you don’t need them. I’m 5’5” and the 110cm ones were perfect for me.

Awesome poles
Having the “z” fold up is so great, and it’s easy to deploy! Used them for the first time in a 50 mile race and really enjoyed them. I tried my friends carbon z’s and those were awesome too..

Light yet sturdy
Enjoying these a lot, have a nice balance and seem light without being fragile. An excellent tool for technical trail and long days.

Great for trail running
I’ve put these to the test on a couple challenging runs in the White Mountains of NH. They are great going up and down through all kinds of terrain especially in the rocky trails of the Whites. Super light weight. Easy to deploy and equally easy to attach to my pack on the move. My only criticism is the grips and the hand straps could use a bit more cushioning but not a deal breaker for me. Definitely recommend for those who like to fly through the mountains!

Really good for a short time
I've had two sets of poles that become almost impossible to fold or extend. They aren't super expensive, but if you have to buy a new pair each year...So disappointing.
