Why We Like The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 104 Ski
The Helio Carbon collection of backcountry skis consists of Black Diamond's lightest planks for alpine touring, and we think the Helio Carbon 104 Ski is one of the most versatile in the bunch. The second-widest Helio Carbon, this ski certainly has a penchant for powder but can rip icy chutes or aprons with variable snow as well as powder. Black Diamond designed it with an early rise at the tip so we can navigate deep powder with ease whether we're on the skin track or the descent, and a bit of camber underfoot works with the slightly rockered tail to employ a versatile performance whether we're edging down icy couloirs or cruising spring crud.

Hello Carbon 104
Great skis! Very light weight and excellent on the skin track as well as deep powder. Used on the resort as well with Fritschi bindings and they performed very well.

Love the Helio carbon 104
I am 6'1 and have put the current version of this ski through its paces for a season of backcountry skiing in the Whistler backcountry and a trip to the Selkirks. Love how light this ski is for its size. Combined with the ATK Raider an amazingly light and capable setup. Super fun on 30 cm days and can carve some turns on the groomers if needed. I am a private ski instructor at Whistler Blackcomb and spend as many days as possible in the backcountry. I know my skis.

The Best
You cannot go wrong with this ski. It's an incredible blend of light weight and performance. One recc: If in doubt, size down. The boards stay snappy in tight situations at very little expense to flotation or edge holding. Bravo

Goldilocks: just right
These skis are not too heavy and not too light (though they're pretty darn light!). They play wonderfully in the pow, but also have enough "ski" in them to perform well on the firm or variable.

Ski Quality Poor
Received two different skis in the same package. Trying to get it fixed and being told it could take over 3 weeks and they might not be able to even fix it.

Good in the fluff, could be better in the hardpack
Only been on them two days so far in variable conditions due to windpack. Felt great in the softer snow but could do better on choppy hardpack. Went with the recommended mounting point though instead of closer to center which I typically prefer and may have helped.
