Pure ice.
Black Diamond's Ice Pick is an obvious winner when it comes to icy waterfalls, but it's also a fun choice when you see enough patches of ice to get you to the top. Its low-profile design includes a thin nose so you can get a sharper bite in thinner ice.

Picks
Just swing and let them eat. I do like to file the teeth on the bottom for easier removal.

Fresh Picks
Always nice to swing on fresh picks from the factory. Very easy to replace with a ratchet, skip the BD wrench.

My old picks were worn
My old picks were worn down past the teeth. These fit perfectly into my old carbon fiber Cobra tools. They are as good as new. They are old tools, but I still like them and use them regularly. Getting the hex nut ( on the tool head) loosened was quite difficult, but once that was accomplished, replacement was easy. The tools climb like they are new..

Penetration incredible in hard ice
I climb in remote areas in the Québec province and the difference of penetration in the ice when temperature is cold (between -15 to -35 celsius degree) is worthy. Only little hitch is the fact that the thickness of the blade where you put a washer (when not use the hamer tool) is a little too small, because you have to over tighten the screw to not have the washer loose...
