Why would you change something that was pretty great??
So disappointed in the new Ghost 16! I have been wearing and loving the Ghost style for over a decade. They have been my go to but....These are awful, they are small and tight and have a smaller toe box, the foot bed has less cushion, the laces are also very short, my feet hurt after wearing them (mostly sitting around I can't imagine trying to log any miles in them) for a couple hours.

New updates make for worse performance and comfort
I've been using the Brooks Ghost as an every day trainer (and often a race shoe) since the 9's. And I have generally loved the updates Brooks has made to them over time. But I will say, the 16's ruined them for me. The toe box is so much less voluminous than previous models: every run, they rub the big toe side of my foot, and any run over 10 miles is producing blisters regardless of my pace, socks, or elevation gain (I have other shoes that don't do this, so I know it's not my gait). They also just feel so heavy and less responsive to the ground than previous iterations (could be the foam or how the foam sits in the sole?). And it doesn't get any better as they wear in - I had the same problems at mile 1 than I did at mile 400 (I waited awhile to write this review, hoping it was a "breaking in" period - they got the two star rating in part for the consistency of being able to wear them right out of the box). I definitely won't buy another pair of the 16's, and I don't know if I'll try the 17's.

Great support. Long wearing.
I stand all day as an RN. Have bought Brooks the last 12 years. Love them!

Excellent new shoelaces on a great updated version of Ghost
Absolutely love the new laces on the Ghost 16. They stay tied with only a normal single loop tie. Very important when you have hand mobility issues! All other shoelaces require me to painstakingly double loop to ensure they stay tied. Very grateful for this new advance. How I wish Brooks would sell these new laces. I’ve been wearing Ghost for walking for years, and the Ghost 16 is an excellent shoe like its predecessors. Springiness propels me into the walk.

I bought these to replace my Ghost 15s and they are definitely different. They feel less cushiony/stiffer. The laces feel shorter for some reason too. I had to go up a half size. I’m still breaking them in and they’re still good shoes, I just prefer the 15s to these. Depending on how these feel as I continue to wear them and what the next version feels like, I might consider switching to a different shoe like the Adrenaline or something. The colors/design are great!

I am 74 years old & have worn Brooks since I was 36 when my dr recommended them for a knee problem I was experiencing. They have kept other skeletal issues in check as I aged, ie foot and back issues. I am very active; continuing walk routine & taking care of my house & family.

Continued Excellence
Brooks makes a consistently excellent shoe. The fit and form feel made for me.

Almost perfect for narrow foot
I’m so glad that Brooks sells these shoes in narrow 2A and I really like the navy/pink color! They are the best sneakers I can find for my narrow and sensitive feet. Unfortunately the toe box is wider on these than in my ghost 15s and my toes have a bit too much space. Otherwise they fit great and I can live with that.

Narrow feet
I have narrow feet and narrow shoes are hard to find. These were a perfect fit with my orthotics. Love these shoes. I will buy some more.

Not for me any more. 🙁
I will have to let the Ghost series go. My feet have changed over the years and the fit has become to snug. I did love the color choices and look of the shoe.
