Why We Like The C.A.M.P. USA Rocket Plus Ice Screw
When we are high up on a frozen wall and need to place an anchor we trust the C.A.M.P. USA Rocket Plus Ice Screw to get the job done. Available in three different sizes and made out of chromoly steel, the Rocket Plus Ice Screw is lightweight, durable, and dependable. Each screw has an integrated Dyneema lanyard for attaching to a carabiner, and a fixed lever allows us to quickly turn the screw into the ice. The sharp front teeth on the screw bite deep into the ice for easy fixing, and reverse angle threads turn smoothly and hold tight.

Fasting placing & clipping screw
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 13cm & 16cm
The rocket plus might not be for everyone, but I’m happy with 13cm & 16cm screws I’ve purchased. Using them feels a bit like “sport climbing” on ice, they bite instantly and drive fast; clip and go. They do have some design “hiccups” imo, sometimes the free-spinning quick-draw hanger will catch and have to be corrected while turning the knob. Also, I do wish Camp would have integrated the “fold-up” turn knob (like the normal Rocket screw). I suppose it is a minor thing, but the turn knob can end up in bad positions after full placement, requiring a slight “back-out” of the screw. Also, I’ve not fallen on them. The entire screw/draw setup w/Nano 22 carabiner weighs less than my old BD express screw of the same size. Although, I would use a larger carabiner (Camp Photon) because the Nano 22 is a bit small while wearing gloves to clip efficiently each time. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase and will hopefully use them for many seasons.
