I like the item as an early spring mid layer and full zipper closure.

Light weight. Great fit and very stylish. Plenty of pockets. Very well made.

Super Boxy with Fat Arms

Quality was good, but the fit was terrible. Light jackets should not be bulky, and this is like wearing a potato sack. It is very boxy with very 'fat' arms. I am an athletic fit with larger shoulders and small waist - I look like I am a Rolly Polley in this jacket. Unless you are a pretty hefty person, you aren't going to like this unless you like baggy jackets. I have two other Carhart jackets that fit well. Not sure what is going on here. I returned it.

Sweet Jacket!

Looks great, fits well, nice useable features and details, not too heavy but still warm. It's called a Rain Defender but doesn't look or feel anything like a rain jacket.

Warmth without the weight

So my employer bought some of these jackets for some of us at work. Great warmth to weight ratio. Very warm for a thinner jacket. One area of which the product could be improved is water resistance. So for something that has the name rain defender, the product performs well in light to moderate rain over short periods of time. However if you plan to be in light to moderate rainfall for extended periods of time or heavy rainfall for any period of time you'll want to opt for a jacket with better water resistance.

Was not a normal fit. Returned it. Very disappointed in Carhartts clothing now in days. Nothing fits nice anymore.

Pretty Good Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice jacket, but the fit is a little funny, kind of boxy. Fairly warm. The finish is a bit shinier than I expected. Wish the cuffs were elastic rather than the Velcro. A small, but irritating feature is that the string that tightens the waste keeps catching on a pocketknife that I keep clipped in the front pocket of my jeans. The adjustment is just in the perfect spot to catch the clip on the knife. Overall, it's a pretty good jacket.

Rain Defender Rain Jacket

This is a great jacket. It is comfortable, looks great, and keeps you dry in wet conditions. I highly recommend it.
