Castelli Alpha Doppio RoS Limited Edition Jacket
When cold weather or rain cant stop us from getting out and putting in the miles, we opt for the Castelli Alpha Doppio RoS Limited Edition Jacket to keep us comfortable and protected on the bike. Made with GORE-TEX INFINIUM WINDSTOPPER 150 fabric and a 2-layer design, the Castelli Alpha Doppio RoS Limited Edition Jacket is warm, weatherproof, and stylish. The 2-layer jacket design allows us to open up the wind and waterproof layer when the rain stops so we don't overheat while keeping the bottom insulated layer closed for lightweight warmth on chilly days. Polartec Alpha Direct insulation supplies lightweight insulation that keeps us cozy in temperatures down to the mid-twenties. A silicone gripper on the bottom hem keeps the jacket from riding up when we are in riding position, and a double-layer cuff integrates with our gloves so no cold drafts get inside our jacket. Three rear pockets allow us to take along all of our ride essentials, and reflective accents help keep us seen in low-light conditions.

Not the same jacket as it used to be
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I first bought this jacket in 2000 and it was so good I bought a second the next year so I could alternate on back to back days to ensure they were fully dry and also avoid over laundering. The outer shell appears to be the same, but the inner insulation liner is a very poor imitation. Firstly, it doesn't cover as much stopping about a third to a quarter from the bottom of the back and sleeves where as my older year models had full coverage to the hems. Second, its almost see through unlike the earlier models and this shows in the garment weight. My original jacket comes in at about 590g, this one comes in at about 480g. And wearing it I notice the difference... it is definitely not as warm. Is it a good jacket yes, but it seems to be that at this price point the value for money has definitely gone down.
