Why We Like The Cervelo Aspero Apex XPLR Gravel Bike
Cervelo’s Aspero Apex XPLR Gravel Bike is a fast, versatile gravel grinder built for leaving our friends in the dust. Built for speed, it features a design and geometry that looks like a road bike but rides like a gravel bike thanks to adaptations for multi-terrain use, such as a slimmed downtube profile for increased compliance, a lower standover height, and dropped chainstays. Since it’s built to go fast, the steep head tube angle, longer top tube, and shorter stem reduce toe overlap to keep us more stable as we ride through technical terrain at speeds never before seen on the gravel.
Whether we’re sprinting down a flat road, facing a tough climb, or powering down the other side, the 1 x 12-speed SRAM Apex drivetrain is on our side, providing us with ample gearing to attack anything that comes our way with a 40t chainring and 11-44t cassette range. Designed for gravel, the solo front chainring and wide range of gears in the back create a simple, efficient ride, using a unique chain and chainring design to ensure our chain stays in place over every bump. And, although stopping is our least favorite part of our ride, we are big fans of the hydraulic disc brakes that offer pinpoint control without needing to test our maximum grip strength.
