Why We Like The Columbia Powder Stash II Pant

Whether it's the harshest conditions of the season or a balmy bluebird day, we're kitting up with Columbia's Powder Stash II Pant. When the snow is falling and the wind is howling, the heat-reflective liner helps our baselayer trap our body heat inside, while the impermeable membrane shuts out the powder dump. And when we're tracking down the last bit of powder of the season, we open the thigh vents to let the breeze in, ensuring we don't overheat on the hunt.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fits great, looks good but I'm not giving 5 star yet cuz we want to check the durability.

Powder Stash 2 Pant

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Great shell, lots of pockets, waist band stretches with movements, pant legs have protective cuff to prevent ski damage. Accommodates long underwear or fleece pants for warmth.

Perfect snow/ski pants

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great snow pants. Fit, color, and fabric are all spot on. Perfect over a base layer or even a pair of jeans. Adjustable waist provides a lot of leeway on the fit and the cuffs are perfect with ski boots.

Poor construction, poorly thought out features

Poor construction with poorly thought out features. When I received the pants one side of the Velcro closure on the waist was half falling off and one of the really tiny hooks popped off the first time I tried to fasten them. Many many many loose threads and sloppy stitching all over. “Mountain blue” in these pants doesn’t match “mountain blue” in the winter district III jacket; not even close. I would have returned them but I didn’t want to wait and I didn’t like the hook fasteners anyway. I replaced the hooks with buttons and cut off the Velcro; I don’t see the point. The “waterproof” cargo pockets are laughable; they have rubberized canvas on the outside only so that the pockets get wet from my own sweat and condensation. The fit is weird too; I bought slightly larger than the size guide (I haven’t worn a medium pant since high school) to allow for extra layers and the waist is pretty loose but they still feel really tight across my front when I sit down. About all I can say is that they are warm.

Fantastic for later in the season.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They are very comfortable, fit well, and I love the flexibility. There is one zippered cargo pocket (which isn't noted in the description), and the leg vents are extremely nice to have on warmer days out on the slopes. You will absolutely need a good base layer, and on colder days, after being out for a bit, you'll probably feel the need to warm up in the lodge. I'm in the midwest (Michigan) and these are my 'go to' pants for later in the ski season, and they are fantastic for hiking. That said, when it's extremely cold out, even with long johns and a thicker base layer, I was feeling a chill when riding the lifts, so I now stick to my older Rossignal pants.

Good pants, not great.

Look good and fit well, however the warmth value of the Omni heat is HIGHLY overrated. These pants cold, very cold even with a base layer especially when compared to some of the older models with the brushed poly lining. Great for a sunny day in the 30’s, but anything in the teens, cloudy, or any kind of wind, you’re gonna be cold unless you really layer up.
