Why We Like The Candy 7 Pedals

Crank Brothers Egg Beater pedals are renowned for their mud-shedding power, easy four-sided entry design, and minimalist platform-free construction. For those of us that don't mind a few extra grams and want a bit of platform for added support and security, the Crank Brothers Candy 7 Pedals provide Egg Beater functionality with a platform boasting the new traction pad technology for a boost of supportive confidence wherever the ride takes you.

Appropriate for both mountain and cyclocross applications, the Candy 7 features an open design that sheds mud better than almost any other pedal system for confident cleat engagement in the muckiest conditions. The cleat system allows riders to adjust float and release angle to best meet their needs, and ribbing on the body provides extra traction when not clipped in. Crank Brothers adds in its new traction pad technology, which consists of two rubber pads placed on the pedal body that increase grip and promote effective cleat engagement. The Candy 7s come with one millimeter and two millimeter interchangeable pads, allowing riders to customize the system to best match with their favorite off-road shoes.

One of the Best For A Reason

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Been rocking these on the gravel bike for the past few months and love em. I've ridden Look, Shimano, and Time 2 bolt pedals, and none offer the same ease of clipping in/out with this amount of float. The Candy has a bit of a body to provide stability on the steep technical doubletrack descents I love to ride here in Southern Colorado, just with the slight weight penalty compared to their well-known superlight mud-shedding hero younger brother, the Eggbeater. They're easy to pull apart and service, spin super freely, and offer float adjustability by moving the right and left cleats between shoes. Get you a pair and enjoy the gravel/XC goodness. #CompetitiveCyclistGearheads #BackcountryGearheads

Comfortable and durable

I?ve been on crank brothers pedals for a long time. Many years and miles. Mountain and gravel bike. My knees feel better due to their float. The 15 degree float is more than enough to mask anything but perfect alignment while installing the cleat to you shoes. The Candy 7 is the ?Goldielocks? of the range. You get the better bearings but still a steel spindle. A lighter spindle material sacrifices durability for weight savings. Really, any pedal in this range is going to be great. Reading some other reviews here and I?ve experienced all the negative ones with any pedal. It?s a consumable item on a bike much like a chain or cassette.

Happy I moved to Crank Brothers!

So happy I moved to Crank Brothers from Shimano XT pedals! Never moving back! Shimano XT personally felt too difficult to clip in and work on.
