DaKine hydration pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have only used it on 2 bike rides so far, but with warmer weather in summer will definitely be using it much more to pack water. I switched from a camelback, so it took me a minute to figure out how to adjust shoulder straps so that the water bag actually rides on the lumbar. I was skeptical at first, but once properly adjusted it is very comfortable. I’ve ridden down one steep black diamond trail with the pack and it was not a hindrance in any way. Forgot I was wearing it. How it should be. My only criticism is the lack of zip-able larger cargo compartment for packing rain gear and other things that might fly out of the open pocket thing. The smaller compartments are great for phone , keys, food etc.

Perfect for Warmer Weather
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 10L
The pack would receive five stars had it not been for the comically small waist strap that almost every other reviewer has already commented on. I cinched it down and forgot about it, as it doesn't hinder performance. Another suggestion is to include helpful images or instructions for looping and adjusting the tubes, straps, and clasps. - Seriously, some of us noobs have to be saved by other riders we meet on the trails who are kind enough to show us helpful hints and hacks. I checked YT and didn't find any. Overall, the pack performs well, and having an almost full day's worth of liquid on hand is a real game changer. I routinely ride 60-80 miles on rural gravel trails. Not worrying about refueling opens up new trails during the warmer summer months. You can fill the bladder with a little over three 28-ounce Gatorade bottles worth of fluid., or for me, more than the four of the water bottles I had been using. The airflow and webbing design work. Feeling the breeze channeled over my back has greatly improved my comfort. Having a place to stash the helmet has been more useful than I initially thought it would be. The same goes for the top zippered compartment. The pack does an excellent job of distributing the weight. Feel free to load up the pack cause you won't feel it on your back!
