It's hard to tell from the sweater descriptions at backcountry how heavy or itchy the wool is, but "Norwegian Wool" means thick and scratchy, not like merino wool that's soft and light. Size Medium fit my husband well, but was just too boxy for him, and he runs hot so wearing a full shirt under it just wouldn't work for him.
