Why We Like The DC Hardwire Kit
To ensure we have crisp brews in the wild, we use the DC Hardwire Kit to send power from our auxiliary battery to our fully stocked Dometic icebox. The cooler's plug twist-locks into this converter's threaded port, making sure it won't pop out as we drive atop rugged terrain, while the covered heavy-gauge wiring delivers steady power.

Provided cable too short for Tacoma DCLB
Cable too short. Have to splice an extra 3-4 feet to reach above the passenger side cubby on the Tacoma DCLB. Clean appearance, good quality enclosure. Screw plug makes it worth it.

Seems silly but Worth it!
I almost didn't pick this up because its not hard to wire up an appropriate wire run from the battery to a power port. However, the thing I love about this is that the Dometic DC plug for the coolers can twist lock into this device so it can't pop out on the road. Which is worth every penny. So I ordered it for that reason, but I have to say, this kits is excellent. The wire that comes with it is super high quality heavy gauge and completely (loomed) or covered to protect itself, it made install the power to our built in cooler in our Jeep Wrangler TJ twice as easy as it would have been. Plus i get the extra power port at the back of the vehicle which is handy. Worth it for the twist lock connection! Worth it for the excellent and very long heavy gauge wiring harness!

Can two of these units be wired in series, or does each one need to originate from my auxiliary battery? I would like to place one in my truck cab, and the other in the bed.

Why is it not recommended to wire the cooler directly to a 12 volt fuse block with the appropriate size fuse? For one thing that would eliminate one more connection where there is a power loss. Thank you

What cable is used to plug in the "12V DC 2-pin" and where can I get one?

2 questions: 1) How many feet of wire does this come with? 2) Why type of fuse does it come with?
