Simple, Smart, Sturdy
When I received the Ridge binding I was immediately impressed with how intuitive and simple the design was. I had some initial skepticism regarding the "wing" mechanism to release the heel unit, but after touring in these multiple times I wish this feature was spread across other bindings. No more heel pieces snapping around on cold fingers and the struggle to rotate my heel is non-existent. The preloaded risers have a huge impact on convenience too. Previously I was someone who never touched risers due to the time and difficulty in setting them up. I like to stay on the move and hate stooping over to adjust my heels. Now, I can simply flick them with my pole and keep cruising. Moving onto the toe, you can literally step in blind. It's honestly harder to miss your pins than it is to hit them. Just swing your boot towards the toe bumper and you'll be in. I took these for a test day in the resort and after a few missed turns (my fault) on some bumps it was a breeze to step back in and keep moving. Overall, this is a perfect daily driver binding that will serve any level of ski tourer very well!
