Ohm II Assisted-Braking Resistor

Why We Like The EDELRID Ohm II
To stop the first bolt from eating us when our climber takes a fall, we have them clip it with the EDELRID Ohm II. This grip-saving device provides increased friction in the event of a fall or while lowering when our climber weighs substantially more than us. Thanks to the aid, when our climber falls at the second or third bolt, the risk of us colliding or them decking is greatly reduced, and the new swivel joint increases the device's freedom of movement, allowing it to be clipped to the first bolt in either direction.

360° rotation
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The 360° rotation is a nice upgrade from the first edition. Much easier for the leader to clip the first bolt and not have to worry about orientation.

Helps with soft catches and weight
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I like how it helps with the weight differential between the leader (me, heavy) and the belayer (all my belayers, lighter than me). Easy to use, makes for soft catches, too.
