Salathe Climbing Helmet
Hopefully you won't have to take Edelrid's Salathe Climbing Helmet during the Steck-Salathe's squeeze chimney, but if you do, at least it won't be weighing you down. At seven ounces, the Salathe is Edelrid's lightest helmet. Not just appealing to gram-counting big wall climbing, the Salathe provides a comfier fit due to its hybrid construction with a hardshell up top and softer core. There are twelve large ventilation holes to amplify airflow in warmer weather, and the chin straps tuck inside the helmet for compact storage.

Great helmet. Lightweight comfortable.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is a great helmet. it is very durable and hasn't been crushed in airport security after 6 months of use. Most foam helmets do, but not this one! Lots of air vents. I have long hair an this helmet in particular has a really good cut out for a low pony tale. Comfortable and quickly adjusted system is very well designed.

Amazing helmet
Lightweight, breathable, easy to use and stylish = amazing helmet! I've put it through a lot, mostly in very remote alpine bigwalls in Kyrgyzstan and even after wearing it for entire days, you forget it's there! Big plus: the color on the top is really bright and you can see your friends on walls from far away or can see which direction your partner is looking at and anticipate things.

Has anyone used the Salathe for ski mountaineering? I know it isn't rated for it like the Petzl Sirroco but I'm mostly wondering if the strap on the back works with ski goggles.
