Backcountry - you can do better

Purchased an EVOC Travel Bike Box. The item was extremely difficult to put together and I couldn't get the "stays" to go in the channels to make the box rigid. I even took the Box up to the Park City headquarters and retail store to get help - the retail clerk said there was no one in the store to help me get the "stay" in. No attempt to help, despite there were several people in store standing around. I then took it to some of my bike friends and a bike shop, to try to get the stay inside. No avail. Called today to get a refund on the defective product and they said the best the could do was an instore credit. Despite that it is defective, despite the attempt to get someone from Backcountry to help, despite that no bike shop could get it to go in. It is "used" because I put it together and then brought it to Park City in my car, to get help and wheeled it on the sidewalk, took it to a bike shop and friends to try to fix. I requested a full refund to my card vs. store credit to buy another product from Backcountry because the experience was so horrible. It was denied by Ben in customer service and his manager. I was warned about Backcountry and they lived up to their reputation. Buyer beware, deal directly with manufacturers. Backcountry is not interested in servicing their customers - they deal in volume. Pay attention to the reviews that state the return/exchange with Backcountry is problematic. My other bike box is a Scion and never had an issue with it. Ben in customer service encouraged me to post my review online.

Best bag to travel with! Durable ! Easy to travel with light and rolls great. The hard case gives you peace of mind that your bike will arrive in one piece. Well worth the money/investment

Bike protected but bag QA

The bag did it's job and protected the bike during my trip, I enjoyed the minimum disassembly require to travel. However I had two of the issues with the bag. First, one of the rivets on the side walls fell off right at unpacking, this didn't seem to affect the bag structure but it was concerning none the less. Next, the aluminum rails have plastic end caps that keep falling off and I need to glue them or find a way to keep them on. At this price point these minor problems should not be there. Things to consider for this bag: - The bag is really big and bulky, will it fit in your vehicle or rental you will be using? - Weight wise, the bag is heavy and may only carry your bike but no other items (bags or tools) - Instruction book looks nice but it is difficult to read in low light setting or to understand due to minimal write ups. No instructional videos by EVOC.
