Why We Like The Cap Crash Pad

The Cap Crash Pad is a solid choice for all-around bouldering. Its dense foam is responsive in cushioning our fall without being too bulky for the approach out to the pebbles. Speaking of the approach, the padded shoulder pads, sternum strap, and hip belt come in handy too.

Best pad for the best price.

This is a super solid pad. I bought 2 of these with one of the drop pads, and carry all 3. I will say the carrying system on the drop pad is slightly better. But for this price this is a really hard pad to beat. Light weight, good carrying system, thick, solid foam, durable exterior fabric, super affordable price.

a very paddy pad

Well, what can I say? this pad is a comfort to land on when you're trying to snag a cool V4 (a V10 at your crag) and your finishing move dyno is more of a flop than something you'd watch on ReelRock. But, its comfortable to carry and it does it's job effectively. High quality foam and a just big enough logo so everyone knows you're not just using an old baby mattress. I also have it on good authority, but not first hand, that when you're wooing the local crusher babe, it makes for a great adult mattress for a few hours... but again, just heard that 2nd hand. Hearsay if you will.

No waist strap

Received a pad with no waist strap, making it extremely difficult to use through trails. I’m pretty sure this was a product defect, but have sent multiple emails and has not been resolved yet. With the waist strap, would be a great pad!

Amazing budget pad

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The foam is thick and cushy. I felt more comfortable falling on this than my Metolius pad, although the Metolius does have a lot more coverage. The backpack straps are more comfortable than I expected for a budget pad, and they're more adjustable than others I've used. This is a no-frills pad but it's perfect for those wanting solid protection on a budget. The side and bottom closure straps let me stuff some gear into the fold and it felt very secure. I can't comment on durability yet, but initial impressions are very positive.

Solid Pad, Especially For The Price

Got this pad a little while ago due to it being the cheapest one. Overall, I'm surprised by the quality of it. The only part that seems weak are the buckles. They haven't broken or warped, they just feel cheaper than other crashpads I've used.

So worth it

Really nice pad, lots of ways to adjust the shoulder straps and plenty of space to stuff it. No pockets but I don’t care.

Surprised

I'm not surprised by the quality, I've yet to be disappointed in anything Evolv offers. What I am surprised about is that even weeks after getting my 2 CAP Pads is how absurdly off the radar they are. If you want to buy a couple inexpensive crashpads that are inexpensive due to lack of extra luxury features, yet retains the exact same protection as their more expensive pads I really don't think you can go wrong, I've had a chance to experiment in placing them in some awkward places outside as well as under a home wall and they're great. The strap system is extremely simple which I actually love, I know this is meant to have less features than the other pads but it doesn't feel like it to me and the all black looks sharp in front of a home wall.

Simple and Sweet

I was skeptical to try one of these since I hadn't seen anybody else with one but it's such an underrated pad for the price. I love that it's the same thickness as my other Evolv pad instead of being thinner like most entry level pads. The black color is a definite bonus since I really don't love all the ridiculous colors crash pads normally are.
