I REALLY wanted to like this mat - and we got 2 for an upcoming short backpack in the UP of Michigan. The concept of more height AND width in a sleeping pad seems right on to deal with the cold and ergonomics. (Most of the foam sleeping pads out there are_ridiculously_narrow, @ 22" [I'm 6'1" and 200 lb.]) BUT, test-sleep this pad - it's like lying on a bed of styrofoam (sorry, IXPE) nails! Quite uncomfortable. I mean, if you were completely and utterly dead-tired, then yes. But anything less, and I think you would spend A LOT of precious sleep time on the trail convincing yourself you are comfortable, when in fact, you're truly not. I'm sure there are those who would say to me, you're a princess from the princess and the pea fairy tale - nearly literally. ; p But I do_not_think the majority of people that try using this sleeping pad will find it comfortable and therefore passable. Again - cool design concept, but poor final execution. Exped industrial designers, please keep refining this idea!
