Why We Like The Fizik Vento Ferox Carbon Mountain Bike Shoe
From gravel events to trail rides, the Vento Ferox Carbon keeps our feet comfy and secure as we rack up the off-road miles. The shoe is lightweight yet durable, being constructed from a mesh upper laminated with polyurethane for a great combination of breathability and abrasion resistance. The closure uses a low-profile BOA Li2 dial that sticks out much less than prior models of BOA dial, as well as a Fi'zi:k Powerstrap to secure the upper part of the foot.

The Best Gravel Shoe For Me
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These things are incredible. I have narrow, flat, low volume, bony feet, and I need a stiff sole to prevent hot spots on long rides. I often run into the issue of the top of a shoe upper bowing up when I tighten a shoe down to the level I need, but this upper is so low-profile and the last is so narrow that the upper actually lays nice and flat on the top of my forefoot. I love having the velcro strap at the ankle for security's sake (I love BOA and the adjustable fit it provides but busting a dial 20 miles from civilization isn't fun if it's what is keeping the shoe on your foot. The upper velcro strap takes care of that concern and is still an easily and quickly adjustable closure). Little silicone grippers in the back of the narrow heel pocket so absolutely zero heel slip. This shoe is extremely light, stiff, and straddles the line between breathable and weatherproof. I run these with my Crank Bros Candy pedals and have one of the spacers between the cleat and the sole plate. Little bit of clicky-clacky off the bike but great spacing on the pedal for easy controlled float. Disclaimer: This is not the shoe for someone who has a wide, high volume foot, and wants a flexible sole for walkability. This is a race-oriented, narrow, stiff, low volume shoe that rewards you when you put the power down or spend all day in the saddle. Plays nice with custom/box insoles too. Reach out if you are interested in this or any other Fizik model and I or another Gearhead would love to help you out! Sizing guide is very reliable, and typically runs true to size, but I do run a half size smaller in Fizik compared to a lot of other brands. I wear a 11/11.5 US Men's street shoe and a 45 in all Fizik shoes. #CompetitiveCyclistGearheads #BackcountryGearheads

Great Shoe

I’ve been riding this shoe on gravel rides for the last few months. After around 400 miles I can say that I love them. Out of the box, great quality. Light, secure closures without any heel slip. The sole is plenty stiff but the soft rubber lugs make them very walkable. Overall very comfortable and fit is right on. My only complaint is the poor color options of lavender or black. Not really a lavender guy, and the black really heats up in the Arizona sun

Easy on off shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These light weight shoes are very comfortable and slim for my narrow low volume foot. Very easy to put on, take off with the velcro cincher and BOA system. My only negative is that after installing my cleat, I couldn’t clip into the SPD pedal. I had to purchase an after market ‘lift’ to place under the cleat. And dremel off some of the side rubber material to clip in. The cleat drags on the ground when walking. A bit of a design flaw.

Great Gravel shoe!

I got these shoes last year because I needed a new Gravel shoe. They are awesome. I am typically a Women's 8.5 or 9 in regular shoes, and I got the size 40. I was surprised at how well these fit. I love the BOA and the Velcro Powerstrap, so I can dial the fit in perfectly. I went with the Lilac color and it is so cool. I always get compliments and the upper is super durable.
