Why We Like The Fishpond Elkhorn Lumbar Pack
With so many miles of water to fish, we need something light and comfortable to carry our gear—something like the Fishpond Elkhorn Lumbar Pack. Light with plenty of packability, it features a water-resistant main compartment, an external stash pocket for easy access, and attachment points for tippet holders, retractors, floatant, and other tools and accessories. New for 2023, the Elkhorn wears comfortably with an adjustable shoulder strap and waistband that lets the pack easily swing to the front when we need to access our tools and tackle.

My Favorite Smaller Fishing Pack
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've run the gambit of every pack under the sun, and this is ultimately my favorite general fishing bag. It comfortably holds my 3 Tacky fly boxes, 2 fly pucks, and all of your essentials (leaders, indicators, splitshot, etc) with no issues. I have it set up with the fishpond tippet holder which is super nice. I generally carry a 32oz Nalgene and some snacks in the water bottle pockets, and the weight seems to distribute well. Even on long hikes in and out, the pack continues to be super comfortable.
