Why We Like The Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible Chest Pack
No one likes rusty tools, soaked fly boxes, or flooded phones, which is why we're fans of the Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible Chest Pack. The pack is fully waterproof if we accidentally dip it in the river or get drenched in a downpour, thanks to its TPU-coated NewStream fabric and waterproof TRU Zip closure on the main compartment. Weighing just a pound, it also offers light and compact storage for our tools and tackle, including a water-resistant stretch front pocket with easy access to small items like indicators and split shot, a waterproof main pocket with grab-and-go access to our fly boxes and gear, and external attachment tabs for our clippers, hemostat, flotant, tippet holder, or other accessories. The rear of the pack features an integrated net slot and D-ring to give us a couple of options to keep our net easily accessible yet out of the way. The Thunderhead rides comfortably on our chest with its adjustable straps, but we can also attach it to a drift boat or raft, thread it through a belt, or integrate it with several other backpacks, such as the Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible backpack.

Ok pack….terrible experience.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought this pack. Payed for 3-5 day shipping. Arrived approximately 20 days later. Called multiple times they said they’d exchange for a different pack (didn’t have any left in stock). After dealing with five different reps and getting five different we will do this…. I gave up and asked for a refund. Didn’t happen. Instead another 10 days went by and I received the item. Item showed delivery in two days originally based on how close it was shipping from. Pack is fine. I generally like fishpond products. Though I will say they could do some simple changes to make this pack amazing. I actually think the Canyon Creek is a better pack and has better attachment points for less than half. Though it’s not water proof. At this point, I have the following thunderhead products: small lumbar, lumbar, sling, and the chest. The chest will be in my lineup although I will only probably use it for aggressive wet wading. I probably will not keep the pack and if I don’t, selling it third party would be easier than dealing with back country. They turned off a longtime customer. I like smaller shops and stuff but Amazon has better customer service, better prices, and faster shipping.
