Velcro for the Win
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I haven’t fully tested these on trail, but can speak to an initial test ride around the block. I got these because I’ve been wanting to try some trickier terrain in rock gardens and flats seemed far safer. Putting a foot down on precarious rocks with SPD cleats is typically terrifying. So, I got these shoes plus new flats to test out. The forefoot is fairly wide and the heel fits nicely. Also, very stiff, which should help with power transfer to pedals. Also, I like the Velcro design for a few reasons. Sure, they may not look as “cool” for a post ride beer or burrito, but that’s not what I’m here for. Often on easy up hills I keep them pretty loose. Then on the downhill I tighten things up. This is way faster than having laces, especially if you have to tie them and then tuck them in each time. Also, for all day epics. You can easily adjust the tightness and allow for proper blood flow if your foot swells up at all through the day. The final feature I like is the ankle protection. Injuries suck, so I’m looking for any little thing to help keep me on the trail.

Best for sure!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been buying five ten mtb flat pedal shoes since 2009 and for me i think this is the best flat because how comfortable it is and no laces is great addition!

My favorite MTB shoes ever!
If I could change anything, I’d make them just a little wider. Otherwise, they’re perfect.

Solid ankle protection
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A little tight but can’t go half size up at 13. Definitely not going to fall off though

awesome
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great fit. Be sure to order at least a half size larger than normal for riding shoes.

Velcro is poor quality
Loved the fit and the concept. The Velcro doesn’t last at all, had to use zip ties to keep them tight. The soles outlived the shoe by a long shot

My favorite MTB shoe
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My favorite five ten shoe. The grip is fantastic and I appreciate the ankle protection. Fits true to size. Wish the protection was on both sides.

Good at keeping the dirt out.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seems like a good riding shoe. I figured I would give these a try. I wanted a shoe that would keep the dirt out of the shoe and it does.

Is the toe box as wide as the regular free rider pros? I love the fit of those and need a wide toe box.
