Why We Like The Niad Moccasym Climbing Shoe

When we effortlessly pull on a pair of Niad Moccasym climbing shoes, we know from experience that the simple, low-profile design is deceptive to its performance. With sticky rubber and a flexible midsole, there's no shortage of friction when smearing, jamming, edging, or placing a powerful toe. The breathable, form-fitting leather keeps them comfortable on long routes, while the extended toe rubber adds more options for aggressive problems.

Solid shoe...

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
7.5 US

I bought these climbing shoes over a month ago. I was thinking mostly for the Kilter Board. Only worn a few times. First time, they were quite snug, and I bought my consistent climbing shoe comfort size of 7.5US, or 40EU. Subsequent wearings they are already getting a little less over tight, so I think they will work well.

Possibly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect fit! Runs true to size. A little breaking in to do but was just what I was looking for

My favorite climbing shoe of all time. Seriously.

This might be ridiculous, but this has been the only climbing shoe I have used, for all styles of climbing for about 8 years now.. I’m on my 5th pair. slab? Send it. Overhang? Send it. Heel hooks? Send it! I downsize and they stretch and break in perfectly! My heel seriously never pops out. And, they aren’t crazy stiff so when I toe down the shoe actually bends with the arch of my foot a little bit. At the price, I think everyone should try them. Plus, slip ons! Common!

Finally the right climbing shoes

Hunted for the right size, type of climbing shoes for ages. Finally found them. Robust, stiff soled, prefect for slabs and anything not overhung. So refreshing to be able to order climbing shoes in my street size and know they’re just right.

The patch is on the wrong side

I read reviews that these are stiffer than the originals, so I finally decided to pick a pair for multipitches and crack climbing. The fit is snug and comfy but still on the wider side, with socks the side gaps are filled and the extra cushioning make it comfier for cracks. But that huge toe patch that I though was gonna help with durability but is on the wrong side of the shoe and thus it starts to peel off, if the rubber patch were on the outer side of the shoe, it wouldn't start to peel that early, that's just a design decision I don't understand. Regarding edging, it does the job well, it's not great, but not bad either, just good enough.

Feel great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really like the feel of these so far. I previously had the Anasi Moccasyms that these replaced, and after looking at reviews I went half a UK size up as the extra rubber apparently means they stretch less. A few sessions in they feel tight but comfortable, so we'll see how they break in over the next couple of months.

Still the best slipper on the market!!

I don't know if I like them as much as the originals; however, I still really like this updated version (3rd pair, with a 10 year break from my 2nd to 3rd pair). I use them as my gym shoe for bouldering. They are super comfortable, and I have not ran into a problem where I thought I needed anything more aggressive. I went down a half size from street shoe, but I like a snug fit.
