Why We Like The Nuuk Parka
When we’re wandering through the ski village after a day on the mountain, we zip into the Nuuk Parka knowing it will provide all of the warmth and weather protection we’ll need in unforgiving environments. Supreme Micro Loft emulates the warmth of down, yet performs better in damp environments, which the 10K waterproofing also helps with.

Zipper is a Non Issue, fantastically warm!
I purchased this jacket 2 months ago at a local PA outdoors retailer for use in the northeast US. I read many reviews and had settled between the Nuuk and the NF McMurdo. I actually purchased the McMurdo first after reading about the Nuuk zipper and trying it at the store. But after having the McMurdo it just really wasn’t my style and I was left coveting the Nuuk. I went back to the the retailer and actually tried on the Nuuk again, the zipper that everyone seems to talk about gave me trouble, probably took 2 minutes to hookup and I thought “this would be a pain everyday”. Then I tried again, took 30 seconds to hookup and I thought there must be a trick to this…… pinched both zipper pulls with my left hand while keeping them at the bottom, dropped the zipper in and magic! Tried again, and again, and zipper problem no more! I think people leaving reviews about the zipper must be reviewing on day one, because it is truly honesty a non issue. Yes it is different than US jackets, but that’s it, it’s just different. Enough on the zipper (Zipper is fine, works as it should). Now finally had some real winter weather to test this Nuuk jacket, some temps in the low 20s with wind chills in the teens with gusty cold winds, snow, and freezing rain……. This jacket is everything advertised! This jacket blocks the cold and wind period, simple base layers (T-shirt and sweater), and I am warm and comfortable. I’m absolutely certain proper layering in even colder temps will prove even better protection (which I will test soon in Barrow Alaska) and update. This jacket has pockets galore to store / carry everything, gloves, phone, wallet, extras will fit. The lower hand warmer pockets are a little weird to get your hands in, think a little different cut would make this perfect but they are fleece lined and do the job. I also wish it had the recessed rib knit cuffs instead of the Velcro closures at the wrist, but again they do the job especially when wearing gloves. The hood is large, fleece lined and the faux fur blocks wind, the drawcord and wire in the hood let you make adjustments as needed to keep the elements out. I may in the future replace the Faux fur for real fur, we will see. For the fit, I am 6ft 205lbs with 34 inch waist, went with a large and it fits perfect with room for needed layers when appropriate. Overall extremely happy with my purchase, I am generally a value shopper and normally would not consider a jacket at this price point (I did full disclosure purchase on sale), and it has so far been worth every penny.

Awesome winter jacket
I've had this for two months now and it is outstanding. To get the one awkward bit out of the way: the double zipper is weird, I'd never used one before. It took me about a week to figure out how to use it, and a month before I could do it without looking/thinking about it. It is easy so long as you are patient and willing to learn. While I don't see the purpose of being able to unzip from the bottom, the zipper itself is robust and I bet will last a long time. There is a long list of things to love about this jacket, so I'll try to be brief. First, it is warm as an oven. I personally run a bit hot and love the winter, for me this jacket makes sense below freezing, anything higher and I'll wear something simpler. It is incredibly light for a jacket this warm. The lack of bulk for something that is so well insulated is very impressive. There are so many small details the jacket gets right, too many to list, but one of them that I particularly love is the sleeve is just a bit long, enveloping your hand with ease if you want it to (I wear a L winter glove). The hood is a ridiculous powerhouse. I don't know what the conditions would need to be for a knit hat plus that hood to be necessary. Putting that hood on a bare head is like going into a warm cocoon. In the city with the wind tunnels on a day in the teens, everything above my mid-thigh was pure warmth.

Perfect - minus the Zipper!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Large
I purchased the Nuuk Parka last month knowing full well that the zipper would probably cause me heartburn. And, it is bothersome! But, I love the coat! It is sturdy, well-built and has a bunch of pockets. The zipper issue still bugs me. I understanding that Europeans traditionally have the male zipper opposite of what Americans are used to and I can live with that. It’s not my first European coat. But, the actual zipper is more difficult to use than it should be. With as much effort as the company puts into designing their clothing, you would think they could improve this more than they have. That notwithstanding, I love the coat and will use it for many years.

Zipper is a major issue
Would get 5 stars if it wasn’t for the impossible zipper.

Fabulous coat - no conditions in GB defeat it!
I’ve had my Nuuk for 6 years and it’s the ideal winter coat and Ive still to find conditions that defeat it. XL gives me enough room to wear a thick sweater underneath but even a base layer provides adequate insulation with this fabulous coat. Not been sledging with dogs yet but I live in hope!

Agree about the zipper
I have had this coat for a full season, and main zipper is impossible to start. Something wrong with the design. Tons of pockets, and very warm for Minnesota.

Best winter jacket ever.
I bought this jacket 7 years ago, and I almost look forward to the cold, snowy weather so I can get my jacket out. It's performs really well keeping me dry and warm in the worst of the Scottish Highland weather. I've not had a problem with the zip, as reported in other reviews. I use a little zip oil each year when it comes out of hibernation. I'm disappointed when the weather turns warmer as I need to put my jacket away until next winter.

With layers, keeps you warm
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Keeps you warm well below 0 F with appropriate layers. Good quality material. Zipper is the weakest part of the jacket, a total nuisance, you have to fuss with it without gloves on and with gloves it becomes nearly impossible. Absolutely terrible design. The only reason I rate 3 and not 4 stars.

Best of my 'winter" jackets'.
Had many 'winter' jackets previously. This is by far the best. Loads of pockets and is really practical. Looks cool too!

Solid Choice for Harsh Canadian Winters
I bought the Fjällräven Nuuk Parka last year after extensive research on parkas. There are many excellent options available from top Canadian brands, including several popular domestic ones. What set the Nuuk apart from its competitors is the combination of wind resistance, waterproofing, and durability. Waterproofing is a key factor, especially in heavy, wet snow like we’re experiencing today. I never have to worry about the coat getting soaked through while hanging after coming in from snow or rain. I have found the jacket to be good down to ~ -20 Celsius, but everyone’s comfort level is different. Another standout feature of the Fjällräven Nuuk is the attention to detail, particularly in the pocket placement. The jacket has an abundance of pockets, making it easy to keep essentials like my phone, keys, gloves, and toque readily accessible, unlike other brands where you have to fish through deep stash pockets. Lastly, the build quality is exceptional—essentially bulletproof—and backed by Fjällräven. I expect the jacket to outlast me and be something I can pass down to my kids. As for the front zipper, while it took a bit of getting used to (especially if you’re accustomed to North American designs), I’ve had little trouble with it. The zipper is high quality and will last a long time, unlike some I’ve experienced on products from brands like TNF.
