Why We Like The Index S2 Smart Scale
Whether you're training for a tri, making a commitment to getting healthy, or just working on getting ready for summer, Garmin's Index Smart Scale makes sticking to your plan a whole lot easier. It also tracks body mass index, body fat percentage, bone mass, and skeletal muscle mass, all of which are important data points for high-level athletes. The Index can recognize and remember up to 16 different users, and of course it can sync to Garmin Connect, the online platform that lets you track and analyze all your workout data, so you can see exactly how your workouts correspond to your goals.

Finicky
The directions say to “tap” to turn it on, but no matter where I tap it isn’t consistent to turn on, I just keep tapping and tapping and eventually it turns on. My husband and I are within 10 lbs of each other but it will never recognize me on the scale (even though I’m the owner on Connect and I added him) and it isn’t user friendly to change it to the other person. It says to “tap” once the weight comes up to change people, but it doesn’t recognize that tap either, so I regularly have to go into my husband’s app and delete my weigh-in and then I have to manually put it into mine. Very disappointed with my experience. My husband though has no complaints other than the tapping to turn on.

Quick and accurate (I hope)
Nice look. FSA purchase, not sure I would have gotten otherwise. Seems more accurate and consistent than my older electronic scale.

Sucks!
Have to change batteries every 10-14 days and that's only weighing 1-2 times per week. Had high expectations but only highly disappointed.

Great Smart Scale
Very easy to use once you figure out tapping is only with your feet lol Cool that you can add multiple users or have a guest use it very easily. Super cool!

Takes forever to turn on
For an expensive scale, it takes way too long to turn on, and sometimes doesn’t. Not worth the money.

Garmin all the way!
I cycle a lot, I've had a Garmin edge since 2011. All the heart data and trip metrics are all now in one Garmin app on my phone. 2 months ago I went in, for of all things, open heart surgery, an aortic valve replacement. The data this scale outputs allows me stick my goals weight management is important, as is the percentage of water within that number, BMI and muscle mass are all good things for me to track during my recovery. I also purchased Garmin's blood pressure cuff. Now along with the Garmin tactical watch I already had I'm able to see all my health stats in one app. The user data is easy to access, to retrieve and easy to share with the cardiologist. My weight and blood pressure for yesterday ... last week ... last month all there. Exceedingly happy with the scale itself and all the Garmin products I own!

Good for health tracking
Very good scale if you're trying to track more than just weight and see the overall health needs that going into weight

Awesome that this scale is in the Garmin family
We've owned this about a month. It well built and goes from my top weight back to zero so it works as with all scales that can accomplish this range meaning as long as I'm losing weight it's headed to zero. The graphics are nice and give me the same data as Withings and Fitbit although this is more refined. The bad: it's difficult and random how to turn it on. It's definitely cryptic and the only guaranteed way is to pick it up and move it as that always turns it on. It's definitely not a simple light or heavy tap with your toe or foot as it says and neither does standing by on it. It came with carpet feet which I tried on my carpet and immediately lost 10lbs indicating they didn't keep the belly of the scale off the carpet so moving it to the tile every morning it is. I like the smooth scale transitions and weighing in daily also helps me to make good choices throughout the day
