Why We Like The Index S2 Smart Scale
Whether you're training for a tri, making a commitment to getting healthy, or just working on getting ready for summer, Garmin's Index Smart Scale makes sticking to your plan a whole lot easier. It does all the classic scale things: weighing in pounds, kilograms, and even stone. It also tracks body mass index, body fat percentage, bone mass, and skeletal muscle mass, all of which are important data points for high-level athletes. The Index can recognize and remember up to 16 different users, and of course it can sync to Garmin Connect, the online platform that lets you track and analyze all your workout data, so you can see exactly how your workouts correspond to your goals.

Fun Scale, but a Hassle
It was a hassle to set up properly, but works fine now. I don't really know what all the information the scale gives even means, or what to do with it. A web page with complete information would be appreciated.

Worked Great for 4 months
I love the Garmin ecosystem, I have an Garmin Epix 2 and a 530 bike computer. The Index 2 scale has been an issue. It no longer provides any data other than weight, BMI and weather. I have reset it and deleted it from Garmin Connect several times but it does not work properly.

Product would be great if the controls didn't suck
The Index S2 could be a great product. My gripe is using it with multiple connected profiles. My fiancee and I both use the scale and it never recognizes the correct person despite a massive difference in our weight. Tapping the scale to get the recorded weight assigned to the correct profile rarely works. And good luck getting support from Garmin to resolve this. They suck at taking VOC data seriously or acting on it when it comes to software or hardware issues.

Additional user
How can additional users get all measurements? I get all but my wife just gets weight and BMI.

Weight is accurate but body fat% not so much
Happy that my weight was the same as my old scale but my body fat percentage was not even close. The S2 showed 33% fat whereas my most recent body fat percentage from hydrostatic weighing was 23%. I've done the hydrostatic weighing many times since college and have a pretty good idea what my percentage should be so I trust my hydrostatic weighing score over the S2. I do like that you can track and see trends.

Body fat measurement extremely inaccurate
I bought this to use in conjunction with my training program to track weight and body fat. The weight feature is fine but the body fat is very inaccurate. The scale weighs me at 133 for a 65” woman level 6 activity. My BMI measures at 22.1. Those seen to be accurate based on other means of measurement however the Index scale says my BMI is 36% which makes me obese. I am a distance runner but lowered my activity to 6 after reading other reviews about inaccurate body fat measurements. I’ve reset the device several times as well. Very disappointing that one of the main features I wanted this scale for does not work and it’s inaccuracy seems to be a very frequent issue for many users.

Works ok
Weight analysis and charts are nice. The BMI and other data is questionable. The on feature is very finicky and sometimes really have to hit it hard on sides or shake to wake up

Wouldn’t turn on without picking up.
This scaled synced to my garmin app seamlessly which I loved. However, I couldn’t get it to turn on without literally kicking it or picking up the unit. It was also way off on body fat measurements. Returned and bought another Withing’s body comp scale and love it!
