Why We Like The Syntax MIPS Helmet
With the Syntax MIPS Helmet, Giro manages make a sleek and stylish helmet that offers deeper coverage for the sides and back of the head, generous ventilation, MIPS technology, and a slim profile—all at a price that shows advanced head protection doesn't need to cost a fortune.
Giro achieves this using their In-Mold construction process that fuses a tough polycarbonate shell to impact-absorbing EPS foam while inside the mold, creating a strong helmet that has extensive coverage and improved ventilation without any excess bulk. On the inside of the EPS liner, Giro incorporates their Roc Loc 5 Air MIPS retention system for a highly adjustable fit that delivers great stability and long range comfort. By integrating MIPS with the retention system, Giro improves the overall fit without sacrificing the ability of the MIPS system to disperse rotational forces in the event of an angled impact.
With 25 Wind Tunnel vents that channel incoming air over and around your head while pushing hot and stale air out, the Syntax MIPS stays cool even when pushing your limits on warmer days. Additionally, the CoolFit anti-odor padding effectively manages sweat to further aid in keeping you cool, all while resisting odor build-up over time.

Great helmet but the sizing runs large
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
A really nice comfortable helmet, however it does run large. I have a 63.5cm head and the XL is not tight enough. It wobbles around, even on the tightest setting.

Bought it again
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Bought this as a replacement for the same helmet, the first broken in a crash. Comfortable, easy to adjust, especially at the back of the head. Really wanted the yellow, but couldn't find it anywhere, so took the white for visibility.

2nd One, Favorite Lid
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is my second time buying this helmet. I have a Lazer G1 mips as well, but I prefer this helmet over it. This is a perfect fit for my round bald head. My first one is old and the lock is broken. The Lazer was the initial replacement, but I felt the need to come back.

Has worked out great for me. Good balance of cost and function. MIPS is a good safety feature.

Got MIPS and Good Looking
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Two other Giro lids have already protected me in crashes so with the 3rd one getting old I wanted to replace it with a MIPS model. The added MIPS protection does require some small differences in shape and fit but they are less noticeable than I expected, especially since I watch a lot of Pro-Tour races and that's just how helmets look now. My head measured 58 cm which put me near the upper end of the 55-59 cm range for a Medium but even if I add a sweat band there's still some adjustment space leftover. The vents are small but many and ventilation didn't seem to be a problem on a 2 hour ride in the mid-eighties. I also looked at the Bell Stratus but it's large vents seemed to invite sunburn on my scalp.

Poor fit and design
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
This is a nice looking helmet but sits way too low on my head. It sits so low that the ear stems on my eyewear will not sit under the sides of the helmet without pushing up on the helmet causing a poor fit and ill fitting glasses. This is the 2nd Giro helmet, Agilis, I've tried in the last two months that does this. I have a Giro Aeon that fits great and was hoping one of these two would be a good replacement. Apparently not.

Great helmet...I’ve ridden/raced bikes for a long time, all with a Giro helmet. Fits my head, looks good, great form/function. I needed to replace my old one due to a recent crash.

Great Replacement for an Aging Helmet
- Familiarity:

My last helmet was offered by Specialized and I loved it. It was comfortable, cool and came with various additional reflecting tape strips that you could put on as you wished. (I added a couple of pieces to the front and the back and, in low light, they really helped.) I did a bunch of RAGBRAI's with it and it performed very well. However, I was nagged by my ride buddy to get a new one - as it was 9 years old. My local bike shop echoed that sentiment so I looked at several brands and got the Syntax in yellow & white. It was the only helmet in the shop that I liked right off and fit very well - Size L. I also was pleased that it rated highly in Va. Tech's helmet ratings getting 5 stars for safety. So far, so good. It happens that I have two pairs of Giro shoes (white & black) and they also fit and perform very well.

Great road helmet in every way

Just purchased the white/citron Syntax in size M. Prior helmet was a Giro Saros, a good helmet which lasted until I could no longer order replacement sweat pads. I was already a fan of the Roc Loc retention system, and the Saros had good ventilation. Here's what I like even better about the Syntax: 1. MIPS! 2. Fit - the Syntax is a deeper helmet, it covers more of your head and fits better as a result. With the Rock Lock adjusted properly, it does not move when I shake my head from side to side - even without the chin strap. 3. Straps - made of a thinner and lighter webbing, they secure the helmet better and more comfortably than the Saros did. 4. Color - the white/citron looks cool and adds visibility. No matter what kit I wear, my socks and gloves are high vis yellow and this matches. The helmet seems to be slightly heavier than the Saros, but not by much. Honestly - when I'm riding, I barely feel the helmet and that's as good as it gets.
