Why We Like The Gregory Zulu 55L Backpack
Whether we're backpacking through the Wind River range or doing a quick overnighter closer to home, the Gregory Zulu 55 Backpack will carry all the gear we need while keeping our back cool and comfortable every step of the way. The ventilated back panel has been specifically designed to allow air to pass between our back and the pack, and the spring steel wire frame comfortably supports up to 40-pound loads. We like the adjustable torso length and the separate sleeping bag compartment to dial in our fit and make the most of our packing space.
Packing and organizing gear in the Zulu is made easy with the top access under the floating top pocket, plus a front U-zip access panel and bottom sleeping bag compartment. The front stash pocket provides an ideal spot to stash rain layers, maps, and whatever else we need to access quickly while the side pockets and hip belt pockets also give us easy access to small essentials. That's all we need for a backpacking weekend to recharge and reconnect with our natural surroundings.

Good pack, I use this for search and rescue and it holds all my gear and then some extra space for team gear if needed. Not too heavy either, will carry a full load with 2,000 calories of food and 3 liters of water + whatever else you could need (camp stove, extra layers, maps, medical supplies, etc.). One downside is it doesn’t come with a rain cover but those are pretty cheap to find elsewhere.

Bought this a month or so ago to get into backpacking, Took it on a 3 day 2 night hike and was able to pack everything I needed and a few things I did not need, since I am a newbie to backpacking. The 55L is a good pack for a long weekend as a new backpack enthusiast. And probably longer if you have your gear dialed in. It was comfortable, even with 41 pounds. Of which 12 pounds was food and water. Definitely recommend it.

I haven’t had a chance to get this thing up the hill yet, but I am blown away by how comfortable it is. I was a bit disappointed when I found that it didn’t come with the raincover, but after finding out that this model doesn’t come with a raincover I felt much less ripped off… I would definitely recommend this pack.

Fantastic Pack
My Gregory Zulu 55 takes all the gear I can throw at it! I’m an outdoor guide, and I carry a first aid kit, extra clothing layers, food, water, and more. This pack has excellent capacity plus it fits very comfortably with light and heavy loads. The rain cover fits well, and the 3 liters of water keep me hydrated! The stretch compartments the outside of the pack accommodate drink containers and more! The mesh on the outside of the pack will also fit a rain jacket and more! The top lid is divided into two generous compartments as well, and you can keep small items handy on the hip belly pockets!
